I went in today for labs and chemo. My day started off bad because I set my alarm for 7:30 and didn't actually wake up all the way until after 8:30. I did make it to the clinic only about 20 minutes later than scheduled, but I hadn't eaten anything before leaving the house and I was so sleepy all morning. I have been sleeping until 12-2 for the last week or so and don't finally start feeling alert until after noon.
I saw the doctor today and she was really pleased with the lab results. She did decide to lower the dose on the topotecan so I could be treated today otherwise she would have delayed treatment and it would probably continue to be a problem being able to complete all three treatments during this cycle. She also thinks that the toxicity of the chemo was what was causing my red cell count to go down so much because I am still almost at 10 several weeks after the last transfusion and the decrease is a lot slower than in previous months. The neutrophil count was still a little low, but not much so she let me go with the decrease! The best news was that my CA-125 was down to 35.6 on the last test but I don't know where it was today yet. She still wants me to go through three more cycles so that maybe the results will last for a while. The last time I was cancer free for seven years so I guess if I get down to single digits maybe that will happen again.

I think if a candidate would say they could find a cure, I might actually care enough to go and put in a vote. It just doesn't seem that important with all the nonsense that these jokers are spouting off about to me. Thanks for the response.

What wonderful news you have given me, Debbie!!! I always say that we are winners! So it seems that we`ll get together somewhere someday.
I`m also doing my best to follow doctor`s orders. I am eating healthier food and judging from my hunger, I`m on a diet

Yes, we are the winners!!! And like the BeeGee's song you sent a while back I am Staying Alive! I will dance with NED to that one soon I am sure! Even if it only lasts a couple of months it will be worth it. But if it is anything like the last time, it will be years again...at least that is my doctor's hope I think. Try to eat more veggies to fill up and less breads/grains. That might help with the hunger and not add much calories to your diet. You know what they say about diets? You "die"t

I hadn`t checked this post, DEb, so I didn`t answer it. I agree to that definition of diet, but I also have problems when I overeat. Last Saturday I went to a friend`s birthday party. They started with these empanadas (sort of small pies) filled will shrimp and cheese. Others were filled with mushrooms. And THAT was for starters. Yesterday I was ill and I had to go get some pills for my stomach ache. I`m making promises that I know I won`t keep.

I don't get in here nearly as often as I would like. I find that I'm not doing much of anything beyond school right now. In another month that will be done and I will be able to do other things a lot more. I am still doing well and my numbers are still going down. I have been in the normal range on the cancer tumor marker for the last month or so. I will update when I know more. Have a great weekend!!!

Somehow I had missed this post. I know you must feel draggy, but I am glad the labs are showing as positive as they do.

I am back to being positive after a few very rough months in June and July. I was in the hospital experiencing blood clots in the lungs, shortness of breath, heart failure causing swelling in the legs. Those were all gone by the end of August and now things are really looking up for me. I know that things will get better and now I just try to stay busy so I don't think about anything negative. Thanks for the response.
