Today i got my first salary. Needless to mention i am a fresher and this is my first job.
I am filled with mixed us feelings of happiness ,joy, satisfaction, self dependence and many more. I had plans till today, but when i received the check and came back to my home i felt clueless regarding the same .At last i put the check in the temple(most of the Hindu families have a small temple in their houses).
I do not know what would i do tomorrow with it but i would like to ask my fellow mylotters to share their feelings /experiences and give suggestions/advices.
Cheers:)

Hey good job dude....well try to buy something that you really wanted to have but not the one that's too expensive though-just to reward yourself for the job well done..then try giving some portion to your parents-this will make them happy and proud of you..then save the remaining amount..
Those are the things that I did as far as I can remember with my first paycheck..
Hope that helps..

Yeah, that thing that he bought for himself would remind him of his hard work with his first salary. It's really a good remembrance though.
In my case, I remember buying something but I just couldn't remember what it was. I just bought a lot of things every time I would have my salary.
And giving our parents a small portion is something really worth fulfulling in terms of making them happy.
Have a nice day!

As someone who is looking for work, my plan when I get a job is as follows:
1. Rent a studio flat or roomshare near to my place of work (so I can move out of my parent's house)
2. Start doing a new physical hobby (most likely a martial art)
3. Begin building a social circle around my new job area (this will require money for meet ups, night outs etc.

Hi Doctor!
Wow, you have your list already. And I bet you are imagining yourself now the moment you will have a job. I really hope that would be so soon.
I did not think of moving out from my parent's house the moment I started working. Maybe they would get angry with me because of that. And I am not into physical hobby...I hope I do because I do think I need a lot of exercise especially now that I easily get sick. And gaining friends would be a great idea.
Happy Mylotting!

When i was younger i wish i was wiser and knew to save my money. Didnt expect that it would actually come in handy today. Im trying to purchase a house and its not easy at all and i mean not at all. I would start saving now if i was you and to just keep saving money. its the best thing you can possibly to do help you out in the long run when your not at home with your parents anymore. If you need to get a car you will have it if you are going to purchase a house at least you will have some money saved up to do so.

saurab:
congratulations. If you are staying with your parents then --deposit the cheque in bank account tomorrow and after clearance draw and give it to your mother. Let that full amount be with you mother and first month you take money for your expenses. Next month you can give whatever you want to give towards household expenses and retain the balance towards savings for future.
Are you happy totally or are thinking that what you have received is less?

when I got my first salary, I did not think if it was less than enough because I was really overjoyed and overflown with happiness and feeling of proud. *laughs* yes that was my first job, my first salary and when I looked back at it, that time i was still very young. also it was the first time I received such amount of money in cash and for myself. XD
and awesome, that is really efficient way to spend first salary. I didn't go that far when I got my first salary.

wow congratulations for getting your first salary, man. I know your how you feel. I felt it when the first time I got my salary from my first job. it's like you have conquered a level of life and entering a new world! keep that spirit up :D
my first salary, I used it to buy things for my parents such as their favorite fruits and healthy stuff; and some stuff I need for supporting my job such as make up and etc; the quarter of it I kept it for who knows anything happen, yeah for urgent stuff.
you can keep it untouched until you know what you need to do with it, *laughs* or something you have been longing for long.
for now, cheers!

Congratulations!!
Give.
Save.
Pay bills.
Spend.
If you have a temple or mosque you attend, you could give a small portion to them. Of course you have to save some money. Pay on any bills you may have, and then spend some of it and have fun, buy something that you like, you deserve it!!
Make sure you save some money though, save, save, save. You should still have money left over from this check by the time you get paid again. When you get paid again, save some of that money and add it to the money that you have saved from your first check. Save money from every check. Don't tell anyone that you are saving money!! That is private information.
Again, congratulations!

yes. before marriage one must be able to save at least 25% of his salary for future. his parents must be able to guide him fully well.

I think the better think you do first is to give it to your parents that sacrifice all the way to makes you live that way. It's really great thing for parents to know how their children earnings money now...
Buy something to your parents as a gift

Do yourself a favor and start a savings account! It feels great to get that paycheck, but before you rush out and spend it all in one place, take a look around. How would you like your life to be different from the lives of your parents?

You should deposit the cheque in your bank account. If you do not have a bank account, please open one. After the cheque gets cleared you should give some money - a small amount - to the poor, give some to your parents and most importantly save some of it. Needless to say, you should spend some of it for yourself as charity begins at home!

Wow. Congratulations.
It is a feeling of happiness if we received first salary, but in my experience is the worst. When I got my first salary, my money was lost. Someone stole it.

If you don't know what to do with your hard earned money yet , just put it in the back. Who knows there might be an emergency that you will need to shell out money at least you have saved for the rainy day.

Hey, congrats on your first pay \o/ In't it great?? I remember when I first received my pay, it was exhilarating, and the final proof that I was finally independent.
Do spend it wisely though. On the other hand, if you're feeling like celebrating, and quite rightly so, go buy something you like, a pair of shoes, a new shirt, new pants, indulge in your favorite food. But enjoy that first pay :) There will surely be many more to come, count on it ;)

It is hard when you first start earning your own money because it can be difficult to know exactly what you should be doing with it. One of the best things that you should be able to do is to make sure that you save at least a bit of the money that you're earning. It doesn't really matter how much this is, just as long as there is a small proportion being saved for the future. One of the things that you should do is make sure that you treat yourself as well as this means that you will be happy and grateful for the money that you have managed to earn.

If there is something you have always dreamt about and the money is enough just go and buy it. You will see how strange you will feel about spending your money on useless things when you have worked so much time to earn them. With my first salary I bought myself a watch, took some friends to a bar and the rest of the money I left in my drawer. Sooner or later you will need them so I started putting something aside.

I'm glad you got your first paycheck, you should save some of it, pay bills and spend some of it, but don't use all of it.

Hi there.
My first salary was 4 years ago. I was 20 years old when I started working and that was after college. I did not pursue my profession first because I need to wait for my licensure examination...And I did not want to waste any time that's why I look for a job.
Anyways, the feelings were great. I did treat my family out and bought some groceries because they say that if you will treat your family and consume all your salary...it will bring good luck and would even give you a lot of salary in the future.
Happy earnings!
