Hey guys, the debate on which form of family system is better is still continuing and i hope we would never get a satisfactory answer. In my view, both have their advantages and shortcomings but ultimately it falls on an individual on whether he is comfortable with nuclear family or joint family.
What are your thoughts regarding this? Which family system do u think has an edge over the other? Please share your comments!

Joint family system can work out well if there is a strong parent-- one person's hand should be. on top and he should guide people properly.
In this case you get the support of parents, siblings in taking care of children. Security is taken care of. children learn to share their things with other children.

Even if one son in a big family is bad it will affect the family as a whole. yes. i know a family one son borrowed money heavily for business and is requesting money frm others. this causes strain.
what are you doing nowadays? working?

Thanks a ton for your response sir. Well yes of course there are also some shortcomings in a joint family when there is one son but i think with the presence of elders and veterans at home, things can be handled in a more intelligent way. If there is any money issues then also a joint family will always have an advantage. This is in light of many elders and relatives and cousins present in that family.

Hey thanks a ton for your response. yes u are right sir, there needs a strong co operation and synchronization between all the members in a joint family. It is only then that it will be able to run a large family without any hassles. All have to complement and contribute equally towards the betterment of the family.

Hi, friend.. Well I go with joint family..!! Because people living in joint family learn the lessons of adjustment, patience, tolerance,cooperation etc.!! I love being in a joint family but where as unfortunately am from nuclear family ..!! Ultimately life will be happy .. There are even other advantages like finance problem can be solved that parents can earn , children Studying in groups makes them score better than studying alone, household chores can be shared by everyone. Elders can take care of the children when parents are at work.. On the whole there are lloads of advantages in jointfamily and hence love to be in joint family..!! Thank you!, Happy my lotting :-)

shrusweet
welcome to mylot.
As you say there are advantages in joint family. In the case of nuclear family -- both husband and wife if they are understanding they can take care of children properly, bring up the children properly, they also develop independent way of handling differences among themselves. All said and done it is only husband and wife are going to be together for a longer period because parents cannot come all the way.
In western countries parents live separately -- even 80+ year old mother lives separately.

@shrusweet-
Hey thanks a ton for your response. Well yes u are absolutely right, a lot of things get easy when u are in a joint family especially the feelings of being together is always there. It is always like having a festival in a family when there are so many people in a family. Everyday seems like a holiday or a festival. Besides how days and nights pass away in a joint family we do not realize it even once.

@ravisivan sir-
Hey thanks a ton for your response. Well yes u are correct, that it ultimately depends on the parents to groom their children. But the problem arises when terror strikes a nuclear family and when there is no body around to help or support u. It is only then that a joint family is thought as a viable solution. In a joint family this situation does arise but the presence of so many elders does not give u a chance to panic at all.

Every coin has two sides. Therefore it depends on the individual situation of each family as to a joint family or a nuclear family. Mine is a nuclear family. My parents-in-law is a joint family and they have some problems with the relationship between the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. My nuclear family has no problems at all. Take care, subhojit.

Thanks a ton for your response again. Well yes as i said it before that it ultimately depends on the situation of an individual. If there are lots of tensions and problems regarding sharing of load and adjustments then one would definitely go for a nuclear family and that is obviously a personal take. One cannot be forced to stay in a joint or a nuclear family.
