My Grandma brought home about 6 big muffins from a local coffee shop. Before they close they put their muffins out for free, you take what you want. Her eighbour goes all the time, and keeps getting her a mix thing of muffin. She will eat one as she doesnt eat much, then bring us the rest. Noone would eat these muffins, so I have been. Even though they are a few days old they taste fine. I am eating a chocolate chip one with a little butter I think they are so good they are all homemade, and definately taste that way. My etire family makig faces, and saying they are old. They were made a few days ago, and were frozen. Anyways more for me in the end, I am going to take the fruit one for work tomorrow, then maybe the bran one the next day.

Were you switched at birth? You seem to be the only normal one in that house. I would eat them and relish every homemade bite.

Well, if they don't want it, that's more for you!! Geez, they just complain about everything, don't they? I'm sure a business wouldn't be giving away muffins that were not edible, they'd be busted. Nothing wrong with those muffins . . . if they are a bit dry from being "old", tossing them in the microwave a few seconds would make them soft again. Your family doesn't seem to know a good thing when they see it!

They are fine. OK a bit past their prime, but for free what do you want? I am naturally picky on baked goods, but as my budget gets tight, I become less picky. There have been times when I wouldn't even care if t was stale so long that it wasn't spoiled. Muffins take more than a few days to go bad.

As long as there's no mold go for it! I have used dried out muffins to make french toast too if any go too far gone.

Nope, no mold they were frozen right away. My Grandma is a*al about that sort of things. She's the queen of freezing things, and 6 years later it tastes fine. But she got these and wont eat them, so she sent them our way.My siblings simple ont undertstant the value of items and the cost of life.

That's a blessing that you got all that. I love muffins. Yes, even if they are a little old they arre still very good. I used to get English muffins for free when I worked in the food ministry.

I like muffin when it's frozen though. Dunk it in a brewed coffee makes it more appealing to me. Yes, I enjoy things that are free, I never complain if it's given wholeheartedly. Simple things can mean so much to me. I hope I can maintain that attitude and also to you. Thanks

I would like to take the flavours I like only. And leave the others But such offer totally doesn't happen here. Here we could get 50% offer on the remaining items an hour before the outlet closed. We are happy as well to get our favorite muffins and cupcakes or other desserts available there with half price. We keep them as our breakfast the next morning Happy posting and have a nice day

The problem with getting these goods from stores is that we really used to sell by dates. Granted it is really important in particular with things like meat, fish dairy and eggs, but most baked goods can outlast the sell by dates. I always think about it like this, imagine I baked a cake that has no icing or cream etc that spoils and it stays in the fridge for a week, at the end of the week it is still good to eat. Then again the ingredients used in mass production are a lot more volatile then those used at home. So bottom line, do they taste good? Are the spoiled? Do you feel fine eating them? So what is wrong with having them?

I don't envy you your family. The muffins sound good. A short bit in the microwave, and they are revived from their time in the freezer. My boyfriend sometimes gets stuff at the end of the day from one of the places he likes to go to while he is doing work. He is somewhat a regular at the place, so they tend to ship stuff out the door with him. The food is perfectly fine.

Wow, I hope there are also free muffins here. If there are, I will also get some and share with my colleagues during our coffeebreak. LOL. Maybe we'll enjoy eating them even if they are already some days old. The best things in life are free. LOL. Enjoy the muffins. Thanks for sharing and happy mylotting.
