I always sing in the shower. I wouldn`t dare sing elsewhere. But maybe I should start to sing while I do my housework now that I know of its benefits: after all, I live alone. Today I read that when you sing, no problem if you are no singer, you liberate endorphines. THat, besides being a powerful painkiller, gives us a sense of well being that is a wonderful natural medicine against stress. Do you like to sing? Where do you sing? How do you feel when you sing? Share.

Dear marguicha
The shower has always been my auditorium and the studio I love singing when in shower. Another advantage that I was forced to see during the hostel days was that it is better to sing when the doors dont have the locks.
Seriously, yes, singing does help me rewind and at times it also helps in cutting down the loneliness around.

I dont like singing in bathroom, it is not comfortable but I have an audience whenever I sing for my niece before her bed time. And it's make me wonder if she fall asleep because she enjoys the song or because she thinks fall asleep is the best way to save her from my horrible voice .
Yup, I totally agree with you bro. Although my voice sounds horrible and I cannot sing well, but singing can help me to express what I feel inside and make me in a good mood. Nowadays I mostly sing children's song hahaha...feel like Im back to young age again.

I guess it doesn`t matter where you sing or how well you do it, as long as you do it. Singing, from what I read, is part of the road to mental and bodily health.

You have a point there. But if you think of the different kinds of music that exist, I`m sure no music is sweet for everyone`s ears. My mom hated me when I played my rock&roll themes, many decades ago. I don`t like much the music my grandchildren like. Even classic music is unbearable for some.

This is very interesting.
but yes, I have read that singing is a pain killer.
Singing is also therapeutic- it can give some peace and serenity for emotionally/stressed bothered individuals.

Hi,
I like to sing. I used to sing whenever I am happy. I like to watch music channels on TV. I used to sing songs while I am working in the home but I don't sing elsewhere. My wife and my son also like to sing. Music or songs has the power to relieve the stress of your mind. Singing can change your mood and makes you happy.

I agree with that and that`s what the article was about. We will be healthier as long as we sing our troubles away.

Endorphines are our body`s pain killers. I knew that we release endorphines when we walk, but it seems that our body is protecting us always. Even when we are ill, there are billions of cells trying to help us out. And we can help them by singing, walking, being happy.

Cool, I'm going to tell my kids that next time they tell me not to sing. Lately, when I sing, Cary attempts to give me "detention". lol

You could make them sing, and you do the chorus. That way you keep them from telling you how bad you sing and you all sing your health pills

Yes it is almost common that people sing when he or she in the shower. We usually say: 'bathroom singer'. I think when we are in the shower we feel pleasure. So we sing then. I'm not a singer. But I sing when I remain in happy mood. Definitely singing is a healthy habit.

I am not good singer but sill I just used to sing songs mostly when I am bathing. This will keep me relaxed also I just used to sing song when I put loud music in my computer. I just try to stick with the song and I felt that I had turned myself as a good popular singer

It seems many of us are very popular shower singers. I remember that in the last Woodie Allen I saw, there was this character that sang awesome opera arias while in the shower but couldn`t do it elsewhere.

Hi there. I like to sing and listen to songs. I don't know if my roommate like to listen to my singing all day and night. But he has to find a way to bear with it because I really like to sing. But I am no good singer though. I never participated in competition or what. But I think everybody can sing as long as they like to. I feel emotionally healthy when I sing.

I only sing when I'm alone as i don't want other people to hear me singing. Although I wanted to know what others think of my voice. I just can't sing when people are around. I will probably upload my singing in myspace and post it as anonymous. hehehe

I also sing when I`m alone. I did belong to a choir many, many, years ago. But I would not sing alone in front of people for all the money in the world

I do like to sing. I usually sing along with the radio. It really does make me feel better about life unless it is a really sad song. There are some songs that bring back memories that I cry when I hear them, but other than that I feel good.

I went to a lecture once where they explained that some songs will give you positive energy and other songs negative energy, even if it`s a popular music.

Marg, when i was young i like to sing a lot. I always practice singing songs that i learned from school. But nowadays, i prefer to listen to music and follow singing some of the tunes. But, not able to complete singing any song since i don't really have the interest to learn singing. But, this new discovery seems going to make singing a popular way to keep us free from stress. Nice way to beat our daily stress.

I have never heard that singing was healthy for you. I too love to sing but not in front of others. However, I did sing last month in a Karokee bar for the first time. I sang "Imagine" by John Lennon one of my favorite songs. I was good, everyone was clapping and I felt great. I couldn't believe I finally was able to do it. I haven't done it again but maybe someday soon. I could definitely understand about the endorphines because it truly makes me feel happy and alive.

I think, music is part of all of us. I, too love to sing and I'd like to think that I can sing a tune without my listeners cringing on their seats.
During some family gatherings, we usually bring out our karaoke and members of the family including friends take turns on singing their favorite songs.

I think singing connects feelings and voice and images with words and helps with the memory if someone forgets some words or even has speech problems. When someone with speech problems sings, his words has a good chance to come out right. Singing is a higher level of talking with emotions and spirituality.
When I sing to myself some songs, I really get into the mood the song brings and I feel different. I like singing in the shower, in the car and sometimes, in my room.

I did not read that, but I imagine that you are right. I know that learning poetry by heart does that. And now that I remember, in the movie "The king`s speech", one of the things the King did to stop stammering was to sing.
