Possessed by evil spirits...is this real or not?

It happened to my grandfather a few times. My mom and aunts would tell me stories at night about how the devil attack him! Once he came home drunk and he beat my grandmother-she was bound to the wheelchair-and after that he went upstairs to drink some more. They heard him walking then just as fast they heard another set of footsteps-loud footsteps and my mom ran to him only to find him upside down with a rope tied to his feet! He said he had a fight with the devil and he won! I think that was the whiskey talking..lol! I don't think there was no way he won since he was the one hanging upside down!!

You know sometimes people don't be themselves and don't act like themselves. If you ask me, then yes I believe people do get possessed by evil spirits. You know it's upto you to believe in such things but yes, there are good spirits and evil spirits around. I don't want you into believing what I believe but I just want to tell a small story. One of my uncle's daughter was possessed by an evil spirit. Her voice became rough and masculine and she started speaking in other languages when she never learned it and she always wanted to eat raw meat, she was always tended to eat raw meat over cooked and she behaved very bad and strangely sometimes when she got agitated. I cannot tell more about her, I was scared to hear about her but I personally never encountered her but they finally got her back through salvation and deliverance from God. It's a big talk if you don't believe in God but yes I don't believe in God and His grace. I am not sure of what others think, but I will be honest and I am not ashamed to say that I do believe in God and other spiritual beings. But, yes I have seen other people been possessed by evil spirits, I was a little afraid seeing for the first time but later on I got to know of God's power over them and I am now not scared of them.

No. I do not believe that it is. The reason is that we have the ability to chose what we are going to do, or not going to do. We always have a choice. People like to say that it is the devil who whispers things in their ears, but in reality they just think a thought about a situation and it grows until they convince themselves that they will do it. I am a Christian and I do not believe in a "devil" that goes around enticing people to sin. I believe that the "devil", is our own thoughts and we have to learn how to tame them. It is time to accept responsibility for our actions regardless if we are Christian or not. Here is an example that 90% of Christians will have a problem with. Jesus in the wilderness being tempted of the devil. The truth is that he had to conquer his own thoughts about what he would do with the full indwelling of the spirit. The thought came to him about taking over because he very well could. About disobeying his Father and doing what he wanted. But instead of doing what the "devil", his humanly thoughts, wanted, he quoted scripture and kept himself from sinning. The "devil" is the enemy and that is our fleshly man. He is the adversary and the one we need to overcome. Not some fictitious spirit that goes around trying to get good people to do bad things. This is just silly and makes no sense to me.

Hi friend, it is really hard to know whether the person is possessed by a spirit or not, s/he only know whether s/he was affected by a spirit or not. I too saw this kind of TV shows, but don't have faith with this kind of things.

I have never experienced anything like that personally, but I do believe that people can be possessed by evil spirits. There's documentation from churches that talk about exorcisms. The Bible spoke of Jesus casting out demons that had possessed people. Mark 1:21-28, Mark 16:9 Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene out of whom he cast seven devils. Mark 5:1-3, 6-9, 13 For He said to him 'Come out of the man, unclean spirit!' Then He asked him, 'What is your name?' And he answered saying 'My name is Legion for we are many.' Then the unclean spirits went out and entered the swine (there were about two thousand); and the herd ran violently down the steep place into the sea, and they choked in the sea. Evil spirits are real and from all that I have read people become possessed because they harbor some resentment or bitterness towards God, blaming Him for something that happened in their life. A lot of people don't believe in evil spirits and the catholic church is the only church that sanction exorcisms and I don't think they do it as much now as they used to. Where there is good, there is evil and the two is always in constant struggle.

Actually it is very tough to say is it true or false. Because it happens in real life. I have seen that. But there are many people act like that to gain popularity. So in TV it is very hard to trust this.

I can't say whether it is true or not.I personally do not believe.But who is to say.I wouldn't dispute someone elses word.I have never experienced anything like that.

Hi jadoixa! I believe on these things because I had once seen on TV that a man was possessed by a spirit of a person from other country. The man who was possessed started talking other language (Chinese). So the policemen look for somebody who can interpret what the man is saying. The translator said that the spirit is telling them that the man is the one who killed him. I saw it on the news some months ago. The man as stated on the news does not have formal education so there is no way for him to study that language.

I can say that those "possessions" are seemingly true because I believe that spirits are everywhere, good or bad. According to some beliefs and my folks in my town, those are wanderers and they go into their medium any time they want. They choose those who has little or no faith to their God or religion. This is only my opinion and what remains is a mystery, we just don't know what happens beneath those events. Thanks

Hard to tell. I haven't seen first-hand someone who was really possessed; then again there are those who just want attention or publicity. Or even in need of medical attention for their mental health.

Yes it does happen. So many cases have been documented even in the olden days, some African people believe in witchcraft that can actually be sent by others to affect a certain person and ruin their life's and to some extent makes a person go insane.They become posssed by the evil spirit and can even believe that they have become animals or other persons. if a sacrifice is offered to the said witch then they can make the spirit leave that person and he or she goes back to being normal

I, personally, do not believe that it is true, that people can be possessed by demons or evil spirits. I think that people who claim to be possessed are mentally ill and they need a good therapist, not an exorcism. But it all goes back to one's faith. If the person experiencing the problem believes that turning to God can save them, then that's what they should do. I've seen a lot of movies dealing with possession and demons, as well as documentaries on TV and I think that it fares well as far as entertainment goes, but I don't believe that if someone is "possessed" that that's what it actually is. Even reality TV is scripted, I think that it's just one of those things that comes down to personal beliefs. Have a great night.
