A really rich guy I know told me that, when negotiating, I should deliberately speak slowly because it shows confidence and diminishes the appearance over-eagerness. So I was wondering what similar tips did you receive?

Thanks for sharing this discussion. Well yes u are correct, while negotiating, we have to deliberately talk slowly and firmly in order to assure the people that we have a fair deal of mind that can take firm decisions for the betterment of others. It will not indicate our over confidence in the same and will create a good impression. What say?

Make sure to always be polite, and have a firm hand shake. It shows you're confident in yourself, and besides, nobody likes a limp handshake. Try and maintain eye contact as much as you can while talking with them as well, it's polite and also shows that you're confident. But don't stare, just make an effort to meet their eye every so often when you are talking to them.

Hi sergedan! I think that is a good suggestion. When you speak too fast, most likely you will not be understood by your client causing him to decline whatever offer you might have. Also, when you speak you should look directly at the eyes of your client so that he will be convince that you are serious on your negotiation.
