Watching a local documentary show, the host was facing a wall mirror and talking to himself in a way as if the reflection was a different person, lol! It is some sort of a psychological therapy to enhance the person within you. He was hysterically laughing for a moment talking to his own reflection and then crying ensued, screaming and then talking calmly, lol!
Out of curiosity, I did the same thing in my room. Look at myself in the eyes and started throwing out the emotions within for the things I did, and at the end of it, I just feel relieved and the fact that I really do not why, lol!
Have you tried talking to yourself in the mirror?

Yes I do.. I also talk to myself, outloud.. besides my little ones there isnt anyone around to talk to.. So when I look in the mirror and face whatever is on my mind it seems more real.. Versus talking to the walls.. and all that is returned is the echo of your own voice...But seriously looking in the mirror makes you face yourself, and sometimes you can be your own worst enemy..

Facing yourself and looking straight in the eyes and doing some sequence or variety of emotions makes you see your good side and bad side, lol! The consciousness of hearing your own thoughts face to face makes it more quite entertaining to learn more of yourself doing the talking and listening, sounds crazy, lol!

Yes it does sound crazy but it works.. I guess its even worse if someone else happens to hear you in the bathroom.. And you get that look, along with the question what were you doing in there? At that point it doesnt really matter how you explain its going to be crazy..lol!!

The fact of being caught doing it might seem crazy is the fact that what you're really doing is psychologically trying to keep your sanity through that therapy, lol!
You can owe an explanation to them and share your thoughts about it and perhaps they will do the same way, lol!

Tried it before! But i find myself funny :( So it didn't worked for me :/ I tried it on times when I'm feeling sad and down, but when I looked at the mirror, I can't burst my heart out instead I laugh at myself and feel like it's a corny thing to do..
Maybe to other's it would work well :(

That too is a good thing, as you were sad and the moment you laugh is the time you should realize that you still have your sanity, lol! Focus and pretend what you would want to say to yourself from a different perspective, as what you see is the physical features and when you talk is when your thoughts are heard.

Haha I think you both got me there.
I am quite not good at being focus.
Yes will try that someday, but at the moment- it's ok if now.
Everything's working well :D
Thanks for the advice. Might need them in the future;)
@Obe.. yes true. I was about to cry but found myself being cheer by my own reflection lol =D

That sounds interesting to me! This is the first time I heard of
mirror therapy. I heard of people looking at the mirror in the morning
and telling themselves that they will have a great day, they felt like
a million dollar richer, to boost self esteem and encourage positive
thinking. It seems very effective too. I gonna try it out too!
Glad to know that you felt relieved and good after the therapy. Keep it up :)

Yes, expressing positive thoughts to your face is really an encouraging and inspirational way to start the day. Motivation really would tend to perk up and hopefully the reflection of yourself doing the encouragement would help in some way or the other.

hello Iriene! :)
yes, even in movies it happens too.
There are people who look at themselves in the mirror every morning and talk to their ownselves that "today is a wonderful day"
you can do whatever you want...
It's like a way of motivating oneself as well and having that positive outlook in life that whatever problem there is, we can make it through...

I have read about this therapy somewhere, but didn't know it's called mirror therapy.Although I have never tried it,but I sure it must be very useful to get free of all stress. When we laugh aloud, hit a pillow or talk to ourselves in a loud voice, all our stress gets dispersed.Once I had thought to try it,but since we don't have a spacious house,I didn't or couldn't try it.

i think you don't need a spacious house to do this.
You can try it even in a small mirror, which can see your whole face, isn't it?

I totally agree, as the face seems to say it all, lol! When we talk to someone, the best way to show sincerity is in the eyes, and with a small mirror you could see your face.

I used to convince myself through talking to the mirror by saying like "i'm beautiful" or "i can do it", "i am the best" etc.. But i never cry to the mirror.. Lolmm

That's a good thing of encouraging yourself and uttering such positivity. The crying scenario is somewhat a balancing act in itself then divert to happiness afterwards, and I tell you it is causes a refreshing moment on my part, lol! Dwell on your mistakes, your regrets if any, your poor qualities, and then after that flatter and encourage yourself, sounds crazy, lol!, but apparently this is a good therapy.

Probably have time to do it discreetly when you have time alone for yourself. It really sound crazy, but actually doing it in a manner that you're encouraging yourself to do something positive would surely work wonders for you, and when you do share it with her...

Hello obe, I think this is a great way to help oneself to face fear. Cause there are times, our ownselves are our own enemy that we have to fight with and argue with.
It does help in overcoming stress, and thinking that you are talking to another person.
Just try to think of another person to avoid laughing at yourself.
It sure will help relieve what you are feeling.
It's better than talking to your ownself while walking in the street. some may think you are crazy!
Thanks for the information. I know it is really a great help to all!

Thanks Anna! The concept of overcoming stress is quite relieving for me. When I see my face in the mirror, I see a different person as compared to what I remember when I was younger, lol! After all the years passed, looking at all the things I have done, I felt the subconscious part of me is the one talking to me.

As I was seeing a reflection of myself in the mirror, assessing the person I see smiling, frowning, laughing and crying, and eventually really talking to myself, hating and loving, lol! After the session, I felt refreshed, and most of all being able to see the different emotions i could project.

Now that you mentioned it, yeah I've done it. It really is a therapy. Somehow the activity reassures me when I'm in doubt of myself. Also it's also a form of expressing my thoughts aloud and having "as if" a listener in the form of my reflection and seeing my own reaction to my thoughts. It's kind of funny to do it but it also helps in a way.

Although it is kinda look crazy if someone would be watching you, it is quite a healthy therapy for your thought process with the fact that it helps you realize how you look with different emotions, lol! Being able to realize how you look when you're happy or sad really makes a difference as you could then see how you physically react with all the facial reactions, lol!

It would be really crazy if someone would see you talking to yourself, lol! Doing it alone and having sincerity to converse with the person reflected in the mirror would surely make you realize something, which it did to me, and for me it is a good way of really releasing the stress.

Interesting therapy, but i never tried it as you are saying. It feels very awkward for me to talk while looking at mirror. Because i know that reflection will do the same thing what i do. So i cannot feel any different person.
