Chand played a fairly good knock and showed us his 6-hitting skills and some aggressive running between the wickets. I hope he is blooded into the Indian eleven in all formats, soon.
Kohli, Pujara and Chand should take on the responsibility of Indian batting as the Sehwags, Gambhirs and Dhonis are showing signs of early retirement.
what say?

Well, let's not talk about the retirement plans of Sehwag,Gambhir or Dhoni because that will be a different topic altogether. As your main topic is about Unmukt Chand, let's zero in on this only. Well, I was unaware about the playing 11 in the Delhi team. That is why I didn't know that the under 19s captain was also playing. When I checked the score online, only then I knew that he was also playing. That was a pleasant for me because ever since he won the World Cup for India, I instantly became his fan. I wanted to see batting. But unfortunately I couldn't. However, I kept track of his score with live scorecards. When I finished my work and switched the TV on, I saw a wicket gone down.
And when I read the name of the batsman, I was pretty disappointed to see
that it was Unmukt who was bowled on 40. Anyways, the lad is quite promising and would like to see lots of batting from him for India very soon.

Sehwag, these days is wafting his bat hoping to connect and he is not able to negotiate the short stuff coming in at his body. The faster bowlers ahve been able to contain him ehen they bowl at his body. Gambhir's technical deficiencies have caught up with him and he doean not seem to have the the stomach for genuinely quick bowling, it seems easy to snick one to the keeper and walk away. Dhoni's helicopter shot looked ridiculous against the Aussies. Come 2015 and these guys would have retired from the side but they will continue to play IPL.
Kohli, Pujara, Chand.. that is the future of Indian cricket.

The way you have described the current senior players in the team, I think instead of retiring, they will not be selected in the first place. If one is performing, only then can he find a place in the team. There is only merit what counts and no one can help someone out if the guy is not performing. If, as you say, the bowlers have sorted out players like Sehwag and Gambhir and they are not able to score runs, how does the question of retirement arise? Look at Ajit Agarkar. He was not performing up to the mark and so has been dropped from the Indian team ages ago. What I just mean to say is the players won't be selected even if they continue to play and not announce their retirement. I am just pointing out the other half of the coin but agree with you that the senior players in the team might not be there to defend the World Cup in 2015.

You are right. There is more money after retirement or so it seems with the excess t-20 these guys play. If malinga can retire so can the Indians. Even now it seems difficult to choose between playing for country as against playing for a club. Money rules.

Surely unmukth chand is a good prospect for the future indian team.
I think he is following kohli in skill and consistency.
And viru have some more cricket in him. dont make him retire by announcing that he is to retire.
Surely when MSD and gauti leave the team, poojara and unmukth will be in the team and hope that they will be the key members of the team which will be lead by virat ..

Viru maybe playing his last season or two at the most. He has an easier option and will opt to play t-20. That is my feeling. He has been found out and his reflexes are on the wane.

I think Chand is a very talented player. Apart from good technique he has a good mind in his head. And so I am not surprised at his good innings in the first match. I agree that he is one for the future and could be inducted into the Indian T20 setup with a mind on the World Cup two years from now.
Cheers!

hello,
unmukt chand is a really great player. he has some very good talent. i wathced him first time in this match and i am pretty impressed by his batting skills. just like virat kohli , who was also the world cup winning captain of under 19 team, he is also a great hope for indian cricket team. i must say that our future is in good hands. he played a brilliant innings in that match against kkr and showed the world that he is a rare talent. all the best to him and i really hope to see him in the indian side soon.
