Guys do you know Timothy Kurek? He is a Straight Christian Man, who comes out and pretended to be a gay for a year...
He actually "came out" to his family and friends and lived as a gay man for a year in order to experience what life is like as an LGB person.
It started when a lesbian acquaintance of his relayed the story of how her family rejected her when she came out to them and Kurek was moved to take action.
So what did he do? I think it is a form of him in educating the public especially his church on what an LGB person is experiencing when being discriminated....

I cannot say much about his decision in pretending to be a homosexual for a whole year just to experience and feel what the discriminated group feel or experienced in their life. Even though I did not pretend to be one of them and indulge in their life style, I still respect them as a living being and believe that they know what is best for them. I would put every year of my life in doing something more beneficial for myself and the society.

Whoa. Looks like that person hasn't been reading the Bible lately.
Anyways, I don't believe the church is going to listen to him, who am I to say, anyways. He could have had a more positive social effect if he addressed this to the public rather than the church.

I applaud his determination to stand against discrimination, but this seems a little drastic. It should not really matter if people think that you are gay, and it would not bother me in the slightest, but surely this must encroach on his personal life. To pretend to be gay would require neglecting your heterosexual life during that period, which I would expect would prove very difficult at times.

Maybe that's his way of showing support, but for me- living/pretending as gay is not an answer.
Anyone can support lesbians and gays without changing their selves or acting like one.

It's very interesting, what he did. Here is a link to the article I found that was more complete than what I read elsewhere. www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/13/timothy-kurek-straight-christian-pretends-gay_n_1963657.html It's a good article and explains clearly why he did what he did. It appears he's getting much support from the gay community. I haven't heard anyone criticize him but if they do they should read this first. I thought he was wrong until I read the article.
