What was I thinking? I did it. It was dumb. Too late to take it back.

I quit my job Friday night. I have been wanting to quit for some time now and I have been resisting the urge to just walk out the door. Friday night I finally had enough and I walked out the door and called my boss and told him I quit. He did not try to talk me out of leaving. He did not get mad. He simply said "That sucks, but if that is what you want to do then do it." It was a dumb move. I shouldn't have done it, but I have been under so much stress lately and I am about to have a nervous breakdown. My boss knew it was coming. He was not really surprised. In fact he has been trying to find me another job so I can get out of there. He is looking for a different job as well. I should have held out till I actually had another job. I know it was dumb, but I let my emotions get the best of me. I regret quitting how I did because I don't have another income, but at the same time I am so relieved to be out of that place!
Have you ever walked out on a job and then regretted it?

So sorry sweetie that it didn't turn out. I quit a job without notice one time..and I didn't regret it...I was also so stressed out that I just couldn't go in anymore. There was one person who made the job miserable....and I named her to the corporation when I let them know why I quit...I didn't regret it!

I have walked out of a job but the next day i started a new job but then that new job ended the same day i started and i actually never found a job for two years and lived on unemployment and that income isnt good at all and doesnt do any good for anyone at all. Now the job i have i have been at almost three years and the people are great and then they have there moments when they get mad and what not. I think its life and its hard right now getting a job but i wish you the best of luck in whatever your going to do.

If it was so bad there that you felt that strongly, you shouldn't feel bad about it. Sometimes these things lead to much better situations. I have never quit like that but there are times that I wish I had. There are even probably times that I should have. I think that things have a way of working themselves out.

Yes, I did. In some way I regretted it coz it was my only means of earning. But then when I look at it in a different perspective, I work too much, no vacations, no day offs even if I am sick I still need to come for work, I manage the store, act as cashier, act as a salesperson sometimes, received deliveries, ordered new stocks, did bookkeeping and yet I wasn't not credited for all of them. I worked for 10 years. Now it has been 5 years since I left that job. I miss that job coz I was the one who started it but then, eventhough how much I push myself to do everything, I am getting not enough.

Hi lily, I do hope you'll be able to find a new job the soonest.
I always regret leaving my previous job but I also think that if I did not do that, I'll be in a more difficult situation. They are going to transfer to a department whose boss is known to be a terror one. I didn't want it but if I did not leave my position, there would be no movement and those who are at the bottom will be there for as long as I am not promoted. But I didn't want to transfer so I just applied for another job outside and told my boss I am leaving. But now that my salary is not as big as before, I always end up regretting about it. It is hard to budget the money when I knew myself that is isn't enough.

I quit a job on several occasions, I always gave my two weeks notice and had another job. Thought the grass was going to be greener on the other side. In reality, the jobs I got were more stressful than the ones I walked away from. I was fortunate enough, both times that I got my old job back. Sometimes you just need to take a break away from the job that is stressing you out and realize there could be worse jobs.

I knew how you feel, I did it too
At that boiling point, that is the best we can do.
We just can't take it anymore, however, you should have
look for another job before you leave. I think that place
is terrible because even your boss if planning to leave
I left my job about a month ago without any new job. I am still
looking for one that suits me better. However, due to my age,
it is quite difficult to get one. Never give up and never complaints,
believe in ourselves and believe in God that we will find the right
job if we got the right attitude, the right mindset a good employer who
appreciates us! Still praying hard as I am the breadwinner for my family
now

Oh no, this is a bad timing to quit your job without any sure job to go to right after, with the holidays almost upon us, or coming on us, it is simply the time most companies postpone their hiring for next year. Anyway, the good news is,you will be able to take a break from that obviously stressful environment. You will be able to clear your mind and formulate your next steps without having to fear being distracted or overworked. I'm sure something better will come along, just keep your options open.
Good luck!

No. I never regret for doing the right thing. Don't worry friend. Always remember that "where is a will, there is a way". There are many ways of earning. Forget everything. Take your time and think that what else you can do for earning. Iam sure that you will definitely get a better way.

Sometimes our emotion can lead to a regretful action. However, if you are in really terrible position, that's not a bad thing. The only thing that you can do better is to have a back up plan, or even a part time job first line up before calling it quit. Like it or not, $ is still talking. Sometimes we just have to bite the bullet because of money. However, it is too late. Don't regret it, remember that even your boss is looking for another job. That shows that it is not totally your fault. Now, don't look back and regret, you have to come forward. The most important thing now is to keep good relationship with colleagues and your boss especially, because you will need his reference. Don't cut it out, it's the job or company that you don't like, but not your boss. Try to talk with him nicely, and ask for his reference letter. You will definitely need that. Update your resume, and maybe update your Linkedin profile if you have one.
