Playing my cds whenever I want to

I remember once, long ago, I was playing music, and R came in, turned it off, and turned the TV on. And I was like, "what the heck, I was here first, is there some law that the TV takes priority?" Since we moved from that house, I have always had the stereo in a different room than the TV. And right now I am sitting here listening to music and myLotting while I'm supposed to be making a budget. The music is in the living room, which is the library, and the TVs are in the family room and my bedroom, so I can play my music whenever I want. Do you have to fight over who gets to listen to music/watch the TV? I'm glad I don't have to any more.

We don't fight over it. If more then one person is in the den, one using the "gaming" computer and the other using the t.v. we just turn it down so we can both individually hear what we want to listen to / watch without bothering the other person. Luckily, it has always been that way no matter where I've lived.

i made the mistake of setting the music system up in the living room and swiftly discovered that the tv does seem to take presidence over anything else! The family vote me out 3 votes to 1 so i am defeated most of the time.
Luckily i am on holiday this week as my youngest has school holidays so i am mylotting while listening to Jack Johnson as my wife and son are working and my daughter is downstairs in her room on her desktop....bliss!
I knew getting her own desktop would be worth the money!

Got mine a laptop, and she's usually in front of the tv with it. A desktop might have been more sensible. :D

My ex partner used to drive me loopy with their choice of music, it was always Opera! and it used to grate on me something bad. Our tastes were so different, looking back it's a wonder how we got together, as for television well my partner liked all the X Factor (cr*p) and reality tv shows, and my taste was soaps, period dramas and gameshows. I always gave in because I went on the computer, got some decent ear phones and blocked the horrific noise of the program or music they were listening to!

My taste is pretty eclectic, rock, country, jazz, broadway and even opera. My ex was into reality shows too. I did end up getting into Amazing Race and Survivor, but I really couldn't get into X factor and that sort of thing...

We live in a small house so if I play music which I play loud it is hard to watch the television. My partner and I used to have a fight about it but now all is well since I mostly listen to music with the earphones on.

Yeah I bet. When I'm watching TV upstairs, my son will sometimes be playing youTube videos on the computer.
