There is a famous saying about health "A disease known is half cured" But there's diseases/illness that doesn't show any symptoms at an early stage. Some patient or the concern person just passed out/collapsed all of the sudden. Then, that's the only time the person find out that his/her health is in bad state. Do you take a regular health check or do you have the habit of ignoring your health? Maybe some of us wait for symptoms before visiting their doctor. There is no harm visiting our doctor with or without symptoms of illness. It pays to pay a little amount for regular check up than paying a bigger amount for an additional year of our lives. Take care your health dear mylotters Have a great day everyone jaiho® forever 10-16-2012 10:00pm Tuesday PT

Jane beti I agree with your statement, "A disease known is half cured", once you know the disease you must visit the doctor if it is of any serious nature, here it is getting difficult to get appointment from a doctor; fees are high, they suck your blood indirectly

It's better to have a family doctor to avoid the long queue or having hard time with schedule process. Here in our country, as long as you have the money or health insurances- you can always visit your doctor or hospitals where your health insurance carries all the benefits.

I agree with you. Bit most people rarely visit a doctor unless that they started noticing something different from them,. Unfortunately, what causes people not to visit a doctor is because of avoiding the cost incurred to them with the doctor's fee. And you know how hard it is nowadays, that a person who works uses more than half of their salary for food alone.

hello jenny, That's the sad part of reality. The salary matters most, yes, people ignore their health due to this reason. No matter how much they wanted to have their health check regularly, the problem is, they don't have extra money to pay for the expenses. We know very well that check-ups costs a little high and if we go to public hospitals, the long queue will make us sick even before we get our turn for the check-up session. thanks and have a great day

Well, I believe that health is a very important thing in our lives. Every symptom of sickness, should never be underestimated! I speak at first hand. I am a person psychologically ill, so to me was recognized a mental disability of 75%. For this reason I take medication and I have regular visits with my doctor. However, from the physical side however I can not complain. However, you have reached a crucial point in your discussion, or, if only briefly, we shall at least once a year (in my opinion) do a check-up, or a general medical check. Health is a precious thing, we must always take care of it!

hello alberello, Some people psychologically believe they are sick when physically they are very much fine. Well,- I guess it's hard to convinced a person who believes in his/herself they are sick when they are not. But yes, an annual check-up won't hurt and won't cost too much than waiting for any symptoms of deadly illness. Thanks for your share and have a great day

I just used to have regular checkup on my health. I don't wait for any symptoms get awared of myself that I am a patient of a particular diseases. Having regular check up helps us to know the needs of our body and to know about the disease in us. Taking medicines in the early stages helps us to free them quite easily.

I know you are right. However, it is so crowded in the hospital here. So if it is not necessary, I will not go to see a doctor. When I feel sick, then perhaps I will go to the hospital. Otherwise I even just go to the pharmacy to buy the medicines for myself. Our company provides a body check for us every year. So if there is something wrong with us, we can also learn it in a short time.

I only go if I think it's absolutely necessary. I have always been generally healthy and I take care of myself. I'm not one to 'invite trouble' so I'd rather not go get tests and have check ups all the time because if you know something 'could' be wrong with you, then all you do is stress out and worry about it. Also, the cost is a concern since most insurances have changed to deductibles, which are all way too high for a typically healthy person to EVER spend down within a year, meaning that you pay a monthly premium for 'health insurance' but the insurance never pays anything because you have to pay the entire deductible out of pocket before the insurance kicks in. I never ever meet my deductible, it's like $1200 per person per year and there are three of us. We are basically throwing money down the drain to have coverage that never pays a cent since none of us ever get sick.

hello mommyboo, Health insurances cost a lot here in our place too. Lucky are the ones working with companies that pays for their health card and only pays extra for every family members. It's almost the same amount paid here per person a year ($1200) depending on health insurance coverage. So, we must take good care of our health than to invest and pay health insurance companies. Thanks and have a great day

There are some tests that can show early symptoms of some illness and theny can be treated at early stages. Among them are blood sugar for diabetes, blood pressure and cholesterol levels. But there are other sneaky illness that don`t show any symptoms at all until it`s too late.

hello again marguicha, Yes, these tests are not too costly but very helpful to determine our health. I agree that we must go for these tests to avoid bigger trouble in the future or before we feel any symptoms for bigger health problem. have a great day ma'm

I think we can have check ups for some illness, but not for others unfortunatly. But we can check cholesterol, pressure, blood sugar and the like. That narrows the kind of untreated common illness we can be aware of.

hello marguicha, I agree, not everyone of us are lucky to avail annual/regular check ups since we knew everything has to be paid. For those who doesn't have extra money for health check ups, they won't dare to visit a doctor unless they're already in bad state. For those who have money to spend with regular check-up, that's not a problem but a part of their routine. Thanks and have a great day

hello sj, Sorry to hear about your health. That's why, we should teach our youngsters to take good care of their health while they were young. Some youngsters thought they are strong and healthy due to their young/tender age- not knowing that they are abusing their health and when they get older that's the time they feel the consequences of their wrong doings. Hope you feel better now

I don't really visit a doctor that often. I am one of those people that wait for myself to become ill or injured to visit a doctor's office. Yes, now I know it would be best to visit a doctor regularly when I beome old so that I can save time and possibly money for any kind of future problems which may arise. I think you need to have regularly visits to a doctor when you are over 40 or 50, I don't know for sure.

hello nijo, As people grow older, that's the time we start feeling weak and start complaining of health problem. So, it's good to have a regular check up when we're still young to avoid bigger health problem when we get older. Thanks for your comment and have a great day

I think the earlier, the better. At the early onset of symptoms, people tend to self-medicate and then go to the doctor when things get worse. Maybe a good thing to do is to go to the doctor immediately when something is wrong. Best thing is to have a regular check up, like an annual check to see if things are still okay.

hello gloryacam, That's the best way indeed, to have an annual check up, with or without any symptoms of illness. But not everyone priorities their health, sometimes they can't forget other things to buy or shop- and care less about their health first. Thanks and have a great day

I am paying for my and my families healthcard monthly so I told them that whenever they feel something unusual, visit the doctor. It is also nice because we have this annual physical examination. In a way, it can help detect and treat diseases at early stage.

hello Paper_doll, That's great, at least you have reasons to force your family members to visit their doctor. Yes, if you are paying with the health insurance, then you must use it without or without illness. You are investing for your family's health and that's one of the best investment. Thanks and have a great day

I do visit my doctor from time to time or when he tells me that I have to have some tests. Every year I have one time test to secure my health. Of course, I never forget to get my yearly vaccines too. For me, health is part of our investment in life. we work, take care our family, and we have to secure our health to secure the future of our loved ones.

hello ellyse, Exactly, health is investment. We knew very well how costly it is nowadays to be sick or acquire illness. So, it is better to have a regular check up than ending up with confinement or prescribed with lifetime medication. Have a great day

My mom is a nurse. So, me and my siblings grew up under the impression that our mom will observe our condition first and nurse us until the day that she think that she can't handle it anymore, and that's when get to go to the doctor for a check up. And now, I'm old enough to be under my moms roof do the same thing with my kids. Although I don't pretend to know medical issues and stuff. If it's just a fever or colds, I give them medicine and observe them carefully, so that if under 3 days their fever didn't go down or their cold worsen, I make sure to let the doctor see them. If for example a disease is a something dangerous or life threatening, for course I would consult immediately to the doctor for check up. ^__^

hello niairen, There are symptoms of deadly diseases that I am sure everyone must be aware of. But for fever due to colds and cough sometimes can be treated with home remedies or home treatment. It's always good to know some first aid when it comes to family members/kids especially when sickness occurred at night time. Thanks and have a great day

Right. A regular check-up is best, because sometimes a disease thrives on the fact that you worry about it ... sometimes it'll just go away if you ignore it. But your doctor knows if it's serious.

Sad to say but most people do not really have a regular check-up with doctors because in our country for example, healthcare isn't readily available to everyone, especially those who are considered indigent. Or even those who are mid-income earners. They do have a budget for medicals and stuff but only when the disease is already there. In my case, I used to be so lazy, plus the system of getting an appointment and waiting and looking for a doctor is such a big mess. Sometimes, even if you are just there for a simple consultation, you will end up getting sick waiting for hours in a doctor's office with other sick patients.

hello Raine, I understand the waiting hours and the long queue. Then try to make an appointment to avoid such hassles. It's really sad how people shop for the new gadgets, new appliances and what's the new fashion trend, but forget about their health. Thanks for the share and have a great day
