You can give money to those who beg. You can buy food for those who are hungry. That just feeds into them not getting back on their feet! A friend has it right in his idea to help the homeless! Get a home meant for those who want to get back on their feet, teach them how to grow food to survive. Plus give them a warm bed at night and the chance to look for work. It is fine to give people money and buyt hem food. ask yourself this: If your homeless, what would mean the most to you: Someone to buy you food or someone to help show you how to feed and take care of yourself? In Colorado, I came across an ad that is for those homeless, single people or those with families, even couples, can go and stay, pay rent while looking for work. It is things like that that really help! Not people who give money for food and buy food. Show people how to get food to feed themselves without having to rely on handouts when not everyone is willing to be generous! Trust me when I say this, there are people out there that would rather be shown ways to take care of getting food to feed themselves, food to grow and a place to stay over those who are able to work but are just being lazy, loving the free ride they get in life! If your going to criticize me over this, THEN DO NOT RESPOND!

I would agree with you that there are better ways to help the homeless than just giving them food and money. It's like the old saying give a man a fish and he will eat for a day teach a man how to fish and he will eat for a lifetime. Not that I don't think they should be given money and food I just think it should be for the short term.A better way to help is to help them get back on their feet such as giving them an address so they can apply for jobs and training to give them skills that employers want.

Hello anklesmash, you are right! Indeed there are some social programs such as Charitas ministry that helps people the way you suggest, it is in many latin countries, I know for sure, because this program was born in Spain, and then spread to many latin countries.

I agree with you, and believe that there should be more places like that place in colorado. In addition, I would also like to see them have more mental health care in place for the homeless as well. Help them help themselves AND help them take care of their health as well.
