education and the real world

the education in school can prepare us for the real life? I think, in my case, inb Romania, lot of things that we learn at school are irrelevant for the real life, for our future job! I think that the process of learning had cultivated a set of attitudes and behaviours wich are directly opposed to what seemed to be neede in real life!
I believe that do more to make sure that the process of education had more in common with the process of living and working, the shock of reality is less cruel!

Yes, there are those who landed on a job where their education is off tangent to their present jobs. But for me (I finished Bachelor of Science in Mathematics) my course has so many applications in real life. One of my former students sent me a message thanking me of the knowledge in statistics I have taught her because she was accepted in a very big universal bank.
