What was the greatest barrier that stop you from achieving your dream ? and if you can still achieve your dream what is the barrier that is stopping you now ? i know we sometime have unrealistic dreams , and sometime we have no talent to achieve certain thing . On of my dream was to be a high fashion model but it turns out I am 3-4 inch too short lol. I had to settle for doing petite modeling. I also wanted to do law but I pursue business instead . One day I know I can still do law and major in business law . What is stopping me ? "myself" I cant make up my mind .

Ah the dreams and their realization and efforts to make them come true... wonderful discussion for me, today... hmmm! I have only two dreams as of now - I need my wife to be happy and the other one is to make at least one face smile per day. Sounds simple dreams but then, I am ill, confined at home and jobless since 2008. i had some big dreams but they cannot be met now. So either I remain unhappy about me being unable to fulfill them or I reduce them to something that I can try and achieve. I work online have some work and earn a little to meet the medical expenses, but then this year has been great. I managed to save some for buying my wife a laptop some months back. And this month too I would be buying her a nokia Asha 300 cell phone. I also keep helping my wife in almost all her daily chores. So maybe i might not be a prefessional, but I am blessed and thankful to lord that I can do something to keep her happy

Your current dreams sound so caring , thinking about others . Sorry to hear about your condition but I am happy you are still in good spirit and willing to shift your target . I also believe you are bless , being professional is not all life have to offer . Being around the people we love , waking up to see that they are well is priceless . All the best in your future plans .

Good to know you are taking everything so positive , sometimes we weren't seeing the important things in our life until we slow down .

Being around the people we love , waking up to see that they are well is priceless. Perfect for me. When I was a professional I never had the time for all this... and everything that was accumulated during these professional years (not much as I was a teacher) got spent when I fell it. Today I have felt that the illness and home confinement has helped me do things that I always wanted to do but could not due to lack of time

you did small modelling? thats great about being small is ok. eva longoria is also small but she has a great career. so maybe you can find a company that is interested in you^^ or maybe you can go to a casting to be an actress. to study law if you want that why not trying to apply to the university? fight for your dreams so you wont have any regrets in the future.

Yes I did I though I would grow taller lol in my country you dont go much future than couple commercial etc but I enjoy it and just wanted the money to help me reach college level education then I drop it . I am too shy to be an actress and I cant act to save my life lol even so those opportunity are not in my country . I want to study law over seas since even if I go to a local university I will eventually do it abroad . Only one university in my country provide law . The others are london universities that collaborate with my local university , I am already accepted in that university but for business. I am not sure how I would go about studying law in Canada since they do the Lsat and we dont have that here . They were telling me I might have to do business in Canada first and then try to sit the Lsat. Yes everyone is also encouraging me , a lot of support , I am just thinking about the money I would have to spend as a international student is 5 times the amount here .

For me the greatest barrier was me, I was the one who stopped my dream, because all my childhood I was told that I wasn't good enough, bullied into thinking I was nothing, I had little to no self esteem, so I wouldn't follow my ideal path, my dream because I thought I wasn't worthy. Then when I was in my thirties I decided to follow my dream and I did that was working with children, it was a big step and it was a struggle but I succeeded and got the highest qualification! Now the only dream I have is to have my own place, but now what stopping it is money.

That is a sad story , bully can be so mean they sometime discourage us from doing many things because they are jealous. Even though you take all the blame I believe those people also are the cause , when we are young its easy for us to be discourage into thinking we dont cut it. I am happy you achieve the dream of working with children , some of those bullies right now are still being load and mean and have nothing else to show . All the best in achieving your next dream .

My biggest dream as I was growing up was that I wanted to be a pediatrician. However, that is something that I will never be able to do in my life for a variety of reasons. First of all, it is very expensive to go to medical school and the cost of medical school was far more than I would ever be able to afford. In addition to that, I also had the desire to have a family and I would have just now been starting my family if I would have been able to go to medical school. The other dream that I have is to be a published author and the thing that is holding me back from being able to achieve that goal is simply time. I just can't find the time to really write.

My mother had that same dream , but she could not afford it also . Sometimes we get some and we lose some , starting your family was not a bad decision . Hope you get the opportunity to publish a book because their is still time, having a lot to do during the day sure take much out of us . All the best

I wanted to have a music band. I really love that but I think what's stopping me is myself too. I am shy of many people so I cannot have any concert.

Have you ever perform in front of your family ? I was afraid of doing things in front of people I would practice before and I will only pretend I am looking at the crowd .If I know someone that is cheering for me I will try to focus on them . You should try performing in front of friends and family to help boost your confidence , I am also shy but when I am confident I can get the job done then go back to being shy lol . You dont have to do it professionally but at least you will get a feel of what its like .

Well at least your are half way there , put your family in the front of some strangers and then only focus on them . Also let your family be honest with you about your performance before you show it to other people . You can do some YouTube videos and see what people think .

Yes, I've been singing in front of my family usually during birthdays. We will rent a videoke machine and then I will sing. My cousins do that too and I am not shy. But with other people that I do not know, I can't do it.

My biggest dream was to land a job in the government...I really wanted to because I want to have security of tenure with regards to work...In this way, I can have confidence that I will not be removed from my post whatever happens...But so sad...that most of the offices here in my country demands that you should have someone inside the agency who will pull your application up...but I don't have one...

Its same here , to get into government organization , you might need someone inside . You could try befriend one if you live close by, you could try talking to someone and maybe you could explain your situation.

My dream was to become a doctor. I was discourage by my mom from taking up Medicine in college and so I graduated with a degree in Dental Medicine. Unfortunately, I did not pursue a career on that field. After College I got busy with trying different kinds of business and now have been actively working online for the past 3 years.

Sometime the hurdles are our parents , they sometime think they know best but we have our own dream . I remember wanting to work somewhere and my mother told me its better to work somewhere else of her choosing. Yes its quite unfortunate you didnt used the degree you earn , that is also a good career but I understand its not your first choice .

i didn't really have a dream of doing something when i was young, but i used to love to listen to people just singing and playing the guitar, but i thought i couldn't do it. but then once i was older everything changed, and i realised there were loads of people who did it badly, and if there were people who could do it badly why couldn't i. so i started teaching myself how to play the guitar and sing and write songs, and perform folk songs. but the thing that gets in my way is fear, but i have found that i have broken through lots of fear barriers now, and so i just have to keep on doing that. dreams are complicated because we do have to have realistic goals, or dreams, but there is also a danger that our dreams are too realistic and we don't aim high enough. but i do think that if we have a goal, or a target, related to our dreams, then we start to get closer to achieving them.

I also like listening to music and some of those people weren't born with the talent they practice to reach where they are and some are still faking it lol . I am happy for you , to see you are trying now . I also had fear to do things in front of big audience, I try not to look at the crowd even though I give the impression I am looking at them . Continue to break those barriers , and enjoy what you want . Yes some people will not aim high enough and sit and take what they get .

Thanks this interesting topic. When I was at hight school, in fact I didn't know what to do in the future. The teacher will not talk of that with you but push you get high score in the examination. I entered technology colleage wihout any layout and was majar in mechanism. After graduated from college, I found hard to earn much in the office and my eyes were absorbed by the invest market. My dream is to get huge fortune from this market and delivery to the property. But till today I fail in this market, my dream drift far away because I lose money there from time to time. I have to find another dream. lol!

Everybody has many dreams in his life. Someone made dreams into reality, however, someone got nothing. i think laziness is the main factor.

I have two dreams. I want to become a psychologist or a psychoterapist. I don't think that I will manage to become a psychologist, it is really hard to get accepted. They are looking for about 200 people and every year more than 2000 people apply. They only accept the people with the highest grade point average. My grade point average is not bad but it is not extremely high either. I can't change that. I can take another exam, but it wouldn't change anything because in my country it is the always the first exam that counts. To become a psychoterapist I don't need to study at university, it is a private education and it is much easier to get acccepted, but the education is very expensive. It is "only" the money that stops me from taking that education, and if I manage to save up the money it would be possible to achieve that dream.

So even if you resit the exam they still only look at the first exam ? that is though , I didnt know so many people apply every year to become psychologist . In my country people with those qualification tend to work over seas . I hope you find a way to get the fund to future your dream as a psychotherapist , it is not a great feeling to be qualified and have the drive but no funding . You could look into getting an education loan . Money is also a issue with me because I want to finish my studies over seas and that will cost me nearly 5 times the amount locally . If I chose to do law ill have to do it over seas .

Right now I'm working as a pharmacy tech so the nursing dream is slowly developing, but the real estate dream.... I guess it's money, and a bit of myself stopping me too. Afraid of faliure maybe?

I understand , I think at some part of our life we are afraid to fail something , but its always better to try . If we fail we can learn from our mistake and try again or maybe we find that its not really what we want after all. Continue to work toward your dream . At least you are sure that is what you want .
