The first time I had my baby I used pregnancy test for me to find out that I am pregnant, thou I know in my self that I am pregnant then, just wanna make sure. And it is right it was POSITIVE. After 2 years after having delayed of almost 3 weeks which is not normal for me. I did try pregnancy test every week that my delayed is extended and it turn out NEGATIVE. This time I have doubt in my self and the pregnancy test, I don't wanna visit my Ob because I wanted to make sure about my situation before visiting her clinic.

Given that the collection is right (early morning or first pee plus the middle portion of the pee not the beginning) then it's actually highly accurate - of course, the expiration date of the kit is needed.
However, there are instances (that i heard) when it would turn out positive because the woman wanted to be pregnant so bad that her emotions caused her body to feel that way - thus, the positive. But I just read about it and never really experienced it myself or any of the people I know.
Further, delays of menstruation happens depending on the age of the woman and if she uses contraceptives. Which is why, my doctor sister-in-law tells me that every 2years of taking contraceptive, I should have myself checked (there are effects on our bodies with prolonged use of contraceptive pills - it's written on the packs).
So, I guess you have no choice but to go to the doctor to be sure.
Have a great mylot experience ahead!

God forbid, but if a girl has got conceived in fallopian tube or such other locations, then your preganancy test may not give positive results. Also, if you are developing any abnormalities with respect to thyroid, your periods may get delayed. All the more important, make sure you had a good sleep and that you are not under sudden stress. These factors will impact your cycle.

No preganacy test are not 100 percent.. There are a couple factors that could alter your results.. First of all it depends on which test you get.. If you want to have the most accurate reading that you can get a home.. you already did the first one wait a couple weeks after a missed period.. Second; take the test first thing in the morning.. The hormones that the test use to determine if you are pregnant or not is the highest in the morning.. Yes it is a pain you have to mess around with a stick first thing in the morning before you can go... So this is what you do grab a contian and wash it out the night before with soap water and dry it then set it in the bath room the night before... also have the test all set up.. With everything set up the night before you will be able to do what needs to be done quickly.. Good luck..
If the test still comes out negative but you do not have period I would go see a doctor just to check to see that everything is ok...

I read in one of the articles that pregnancy test are not 100 percent accurate, better suggestion for you is to visit and Ob, they can test you urine and find out in few hours if you are positive or not.
If you are trying for pregnancy test kit, after 3 times of trial on test of urine or mucous it means it you must be negative prior you started the test two weeks after the delay of your menstrual period.

You can get false positives if your hormones are for some reason altered. Other things could be wrong in the body to do this. Also, if you are early in pregnancy you may not be producing enough hormones yet to show up on the test.
If you are going weeks with this question I urge you to go to the doctor, it is best to get prenatal care if you are pregnant and don't you want to be certain!

Hello there Ynrhea!
Do you mean pregnancy test "kit"? I don't use it. And I never used it. I have a 6 year old son. Every now and then, I experience some abnormalities in my menstrual period due to hormonal imbalance. Women may experience this especially when taking some contraceptives and when sexually active.
I do not fear getting pregnant but I would want to know it first and foremost before doing harm to my self and to the baby. I see to it that I take a record of my 28 days cycle. When I experience delay, I would give it a week but not exceeding 2 weeks. I go to a medical/laboratory clinic and have serum testing. It is a process of testing pregnancy through blood. My chemist friend told me that it is more accurate than the pregnancy test kit with urine specimen. Pregnancy can be detected as early as 5 days of delay in your period.
If such case happen to you, you just have a laboratory test, serum test for you to make sure of your condition.

Using pregnancy test is not 100 percent accurate. I suggest that it is better if you visit your gynecologist with regards to that issue. Because only doctors can explain those things. :)

Thanks for posting this discussion. I think rather than taking the pregnancy test by yourself at home, u should always contact a doctor. A doctor will always give an accurate prediction about pregnancy. A pregnancy test might not always depict a true prediction, it was created for those ladies who found it difficult to consult a doctor every time.
What say?

I think so are, but many of the cheaper ones arent. I have had many friends buy them and they say they are positive. Then go to dr. and are told they arent pregnant.
