i've read about this, and i've seen stories with these. that is the reason i planned to do it myself.
but the answer is no. well, at least not YET. probably when i remember it on my free days, then i would try. though same as you, i have no idea what to say to the future me. maybe i'll just describe who i am today, and what i would think of the future. then i's be laughing at myself some years after today.
good idea.

wow it made me think too... I also do not know what to write... but maybe try to write like a diary of what is happening with my current life... like how are my babies doing now? what are the new things that they can do? maybe in 10 years time, it will be fun to read it again - with them! they will be amazed that 10 years ago they are like this and like that. I don't think my 2-year old and my 8-month old can still remember what they are now after 10 years... nice discussion It makes me think of making one even if I'm not part of your activity

I think writing letter to yourself for the future is a good idea. I haven't experience this one. Let me try. This maybe quiet interesting. I am already thinking of the content of my letter now. :)

I haven't tried that. What's the activity for? What is the purpose why they require you to write letter for the future you? I think it's kind of interesting to do that. I should have done that before so I would always be reminded of how I am and feel those days.

I see, I also think that this could also be some sort of reminder of your old feelings. Like when you wrote this 10 years ago and that time, you love your husband so dearly, but after 10 years, it's a total different story like your on the edge of giving up your marriage, I think that this letter will you remind how you love your husband in the past. So as to take everything into considerations before deciding on something.

I never tried actually and I don't want. It would be better to let things happen by themselves. ^_^

Now that is one task I could never do! Reason being because of my depression I have to live for today, not tomorrow, I don't think of the future it's too scary and too unpredictable, and because of my negative thinking I'd only picture me in a dire state. The here and now is important to me, I live every day as if its my last, sounds morbid I know, but it makes me appreciate what I have got today, not what I might not have tomorrow. Good luck with it!

No, I've never done that. Do people really do that? I always thought that it was pretty much just a device that was used in television shows and movies. I know that it has been used several times in one of my favorite shows, How I Met Your Mother.

I never did that ... it's probably too late to now, because I'm too old (yeah, 31's still "young" in the grand scheme of things; but it's too old to be considered "fresh-minded" so much as one would like).
It's good to do when you're 'fresh-minded'---when your mind isn't calloused & better to the harsh elements the world pours upon the 'protection' that holds it (censorship by parents & teachers, the cautions they teach you to use, laws that shut people up in some areas, etc.) Because fresh-minded dreams are powerful.
When I was young, my dream was to help people to realize that there's nothing to fear. Maybe if I had written how I thought I would do that, I would have some idea how now.

the thought is very cool! there are some places in china having this service. you can write a letter in the special post office and tell them when you want to get it in the future. maybe 5 years, 10 years. and they will keep your letter for a long time and you can get the letter from yourself in past. it is so interesting!

That's not a bad idea. There is a similar case I happened to see on the net. A guy shared a video he made ten years ago talking to his future self. This is kind of weird but come to think of it, you will be setting goals for yourself and look forward in achieving it so you will not disappoint your past self when the time comes.

I haven't never tried it, but it might be pretty interesting. Then again it might bring me sadness, depending on what happens between now and then. I'm 51 and my husband is 64. A lot can happen in our lives between now and then, but you never know if anything bad happens it may bring back fond memories. I may think about it, but I'm like you. What would I write?

Hello youless. It seems to be a good activity as it will make you be more creative in thinking about what will happen to you. You will have to think about how things and people will be like ten years from now. You will have to consider so many things like your health status, working status, and your family status, whatever changes that will or may happen to you. In fact, I have never written a letter to the future me. Thanks for the discussion.
