How Does One Tune-In to God's Voice?

I know a lot of people start by reading the Bible. But there are so many ways of taking its suggestions---literally (link instructions in a cookbook), figuratively (like the lesson of a fairy-tale), etc. I think of 'lairdbashour at clearwire.net's interpretation of Revelation's armies of horses, -horsemen, -arrows etc. He thinks those will literally be those things (not figurative representations of tanks, commanders, bullets, etc.) because it says "they will say peace"---which he interprets as a worldwide weapons-destruction & -ban. But how do we know it's not God's voice saying "peace"? Another good time to know how to hear God's voice would be 'when they're marking foreheads.' Because--while there's the mark of the beast to worry about--there's ALSO the mark of God to welcome! How will we know? The Voice of God! But demons' spirits have voices too! How can we tell the difference?

I don't expect G-d to speak to me. I'm not Moses. So any voice I hear I assume is either a person or spirit.

I don't know that either. I could SAY you know it 'because its words don't agree with the Word of G-d you've heard before,' but the Devil does a very-good G*d-impression that way

But how do you know God isn't the one telling the person or spirit what to say?

I suggest that when you hear God speaking to you it is unmistakable all the best, urban

I suggest that when you hear God speaking directly to you the experience is such that it possesses a quality that is unmistakably that of God. Not in comparison to anything but it and of itself all the best, urban

How do you know it's not S-T-N talking (as SarahRuthBeth## says, S-T-N & G-d are practically brothers!)

I think learning the art of quietness, along with our bible reading, and especially during prayer will help us learn to recognize the "still, small voice" of God.. His quiet voice and presence.. Then too, there's logic! If we know the absolutes, that is, such as God is perfect.. tells us a lot about what can be true and what simply cannot..

It's hard to get the mind quiet! when we first try (and then some) we find our mind is a very noisy place. God's voice IS the quietness..?

Yes, we should always be listening for the Divine Voice; but (although all sounds are originally from the Divine Voice) we have to be aware that there are other souls out here making the Divine Voice sound different than we think/know it should sound, and we have to adjust our movements to manage to make the Divine Sound known to them too!

The Holy Spirit is our Teacher Leader and Guide and through spiritual discernment we can determine what is what reference to Gods Voice and the Devils. Stay in Posture of Prayer at all time to Kepp you IN tune with Gods Heart at all Times.

But Satan gets his voice in there too. I.e. even if you're only listening for your lover's heartbeat, you'll still hear the baby's cry from the other room (& vice-versa). How do you know a 'posture of prayer' isn't bowing to Satan?
