do you feed your pet dogs in the morning?

I do. I give them bread which I cut into pieces then hand-feed all three of them. My other friend sees to it that the bread she gives her pets are dipped in milk. I know some dog owners who don't feed their pets in the morning but only feed them enormously at lunch or dinner. How about you? Do you feed your pets in the morning?

The number of meals you give to your dog depends on the dog's age and size.
The number of meals can be 3 to 5 for a puppy, while you could give a medium sized adult dog a single meal a day. For an adult dog from a large breed it is dangerous to give them a single huge amount a food a day, because there is the risk of gastric torsion.
We feed our dog two meals a day. She eats one meal after her morning walk, and the other meal after her evening walk.

My two dogs are outside dogs and they have a 20 lb feeder outside that is always full of food. They have free access to food anytime they want it. Twice a week I give them a treat. I feed my dogs scraps from the table twice a week. They also get a milkbone dog biscuit treat. Each also gets a huge bone to chew on, not rawhide because dogs can choke on rawhide. So, no I don't feed my dogs in the morning. The eat when they get ready. Their food is available 24/7. Thanks for this discussion.

Personally since my husband and I are often gone a lot of the day at times we always try to leave some food in our dogs dish at all times. We make sure of this so in case we are gone away from him for over 6-8 hrs he does have food and water in case he gets hungry. I do not feed ours bread as I am not sure this would be good for a Pomeranian.

I sincerely hope that your dog is fed more than just bread and more than just in the mornings. Dogs need a healthy balanced diet of the proper kinds of foods just as people do, and some things we eat can kill them.

I do, too. My dog eats twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the evening. Sometimes she has a few bits for lunch, too.
For a healthy adult dog, it doesn't matter how many meals he has a day. A dog can survive with only one meal a day, but two or three meals a day don't do any harm.
The only problem is with large dogs. They can't have only one, large meal a day, because there is a huge risk of gastric torsion. Once you saw a dog suffering from gastric torsion, you would never risk that with your dog. For large dogs it is better to split the daily food into two or three portions. Also, for those dogs it is advisable to avoid rough exercises after meals.

My dog eats twice a day. In the morning and at night. I think its better, because when they eat only once a day maybe they are hungry in the hours previous to the food.
