one of airlines (sriwijaya air) plane had been landing at the wrong indonesian airport..
when the first time i hear and read the news, it`s seems so funny but it`s the fact..
many question in that website which inform the news..like
Where is the function of ATC so they give the wrong information to pilot?? or what have done by pilot so he can`t understand the guide and tutorial from ATC crew??what`s going on with the airplane??
let see the whole story..maybe you can get some clue..
The pilot in the "wrong landed" is foreign pilot..it`s first time for him to be pilot in indonesia (maybe) and land in padang, west sumatera..
The unlucky plane is The Sriwijaya air plane, carrying 96 passengers and 6 crews..their target airport is Minangkabau International airport but the pilot land in the tabing air force base...both of the airport is 12 kilometers (seven miles) away..it`s too closely..yeah
the plane was started from Medan (north sumatera) for the short flight to Padang..
Ministry of transportation by their spokesman, Bambang Ervan said that the incident was very serious for the passenger safety when the plane landed at the wrong airport
and for the consequence, the pilot was not allowed for flying the plane and he will be asked about what`s happen with him and plane and why he didn`t follow the ATC information and Air trafic official at Minangkabau airport are also under investigation because the shame and blunder action..
it remind me, when sometimes the public bus or car reach the wrong destination..but when the plane does like it, it`s not only funny, but it`s dangerous for the passenger..
how come the "blind" pilot try to fly the plane and make dangerous for the passenger??

Lol. Reminds me of a joke circulating when strongman Marcos of the Philippines was ousted. It was said that their supposed destination was Pawaoay, Marcos' hometown in the northern Philippines. "Aye, aye", the pilot was said of shouting..."Hawaii". ..and that's where they landed, in US territory.

This is not the first incident of this type, and probably won't be the last..Here in Ireland, there are several disused airfields left over from WW2..some got repurposed as military bases or racetracks..2 current Passenger carrying airports,City of Derry and Belfast International (Aldergrove) both have such disused airfields nearby, being Ballykelly and Langford Lodge respectively..both (operational) Airports have had airliners landing on their disused counterparts, one in 2006,the other in the late '80's..in fairness, the disused fields have the same runway layout, they're just a few miles away!

I understand Pilot error to have been the conclusion in these cases...in the more recent one,the Pilot was apparently not familiar with the operational airport (or it having a "doppelganger"..)something should have seemed wrong to the crew (And to the Tower controllers!)at the time as the 2 airfields are miles apart..only helicopters can drop in on a given spot..airliners plan a glide slope miles out to go in for a smooth touchdown! At least in these cases,no-one was injured..the pilots fortunately made good landings, but, embarrassingly for them,it just happened to be in the wrong place...

Good thing that he could manage to land safe in the wrong airport. That's was quite dangerous the fact the their flight was not schedule with that airport.Thanked God that nothing happened bad to them.

If he is new, it could have been an honest mistake. But are the ATC talking with him in a common language? Maybe he lacked orientation too. And wait, another this is- I thought Pilots should have co-pilots? If he was new to that airlines, at least they could have paired him up with an Indonesian co-pilot. :(
And again, if he was allowed to fly, not even sure if he is well familiar with the destination- the bosses may be liable too. He should have been evaluated first before letting him do the flight :/
But glad the passengers are all well.Only at the wrong place :D

from his admission, he say this is his first time comes to Padang, west sumatera..
whatever his reason, his mistake is scary us..
how come the security passenger is neglected and he is easily saying, this is the first time i come here??it`s not ridiculuos if we are talking about life..

yeah..it`s the first time to pilot arrive in Padang
so he can`t distinguish one airport and another airport
and the fool guide from ATC makes his become foolish man..
if i were a passenger, i will say to the pilot, next time, don`t try to fly the airplane if he didn`t know the direction

Human errors were the caused of many plane crash. That is what I fear most when i travel by air. In this case maybe there was a miscommunication between the ground traffic controller and the foreign pilot. And this should not be taken lightly as it concern life.

That's just amazing!!!!Maybe we relied on electronic products too much, maybe it is not the pilot's fault, it's just the ATC failure, nothing is possible. Try to think about it, electronic products filled our everyday life, this incident tells me that they are not all reliable.

hi adhyz like Anna and the King of Siam movie when the king said "it is a puzzlement." this is puzzling indeed and to land on
what sounded like a military airbase. yes that could have put the passengers in danger.yes what was he doing on a airforce base?
I am sure a thorough investigation will b e done of that
goof not really funny at all.wrong country wrong airport base.

It's not funny at all, the pilot should take more precautions in such a duty. It is too much inconvenience on the passengers and the risk that they had take although they still landed safely. Sometimes it happens but the first thing to remember whenever a certain person is doing something is to focus.

Perhaps the pilot wanted to stop off and fetch a friend or grab a bite to eat in a different city. On a serious note I am assuming there is a heft penalty for this conduct(and extra costs).

of course..i agree like that..the passenger or the united passenger can make claim for asking the extra cost..how come it can endanger life of passenger
the poor news, the pilot only get warning and didn`t fly for temporary time..i think the punishment isn`t enough

It's understandable that incidents like these can cause concern among passengers, but it's important to remember that aviation remains one of the safest modes of transportation due to stringent safety protocols and continuous efforts to enhance safety standards.
