I'm writing this message using speech to text software. Has anyone of you ever used speech to text software? I'm asking this because I hear a lot of people have problems typing. So I was thinking why don't people use speech text software instead. As a matter of fact this post is entirely written by using speech only. I'm pretty sure you already found out because my spoken English is much worse than my typed English. But as they say practice makes perfect, so I will continue using it until I am perfect well of course I'll never be perfect but at least I want to be adequate at it.

I would definitely try that software in the future. That's a great invention though. That would be eventually make things faster. But for now, I will resort to typing and do some exercise with my fingers. You are right, practice makes perfect, taht applies to everything in life. Thanks

I di try Dragon Naturally Speaking about 12 to 12 years ago, purely from the point of curiosity. It took a vast amount of time to configure because those days you had to read aloud around 90 different short pages ranging from a atlk about the weather to a short story about the Antarctic. This was designed to train the software to understand your voice. It worked reasonably well, although it still struggled with a few terms and required spelling to confirm. Nevertheless, I managed to launch Microsoft Outlook and send a short email to me brother with touching either mouse or keyboard, which was quite impressive. That was in the early days of the technology, so configuring the software now should be far easier and it should also be more stable.

Yes, I have heard about the software and I have used it before. It is really nice since all you need to do is speak and the software will convert the words into text. But initially you have to practice so that the software will be familiar with how you pronounce the words. There are also techniques to come up with a new paragraph, spacing etc. In other words, practice is also necessary. But over all, it is a nice software and once you get the hang of it, it is definitely very useful.

I'm familiar with this, although I haven't actually used one. In my previous job, we thought of using this kind of software in order to speed up the typing tasks of the employees. One problem we encountered was that some words were incorrectly spelled by the software program maybe because of poor diction or pronunciation of the user or some other reasons. So editing was needed for the transcripts. But these software are still very helpful especially for those with slow typing speeds :)

I heard about voice recongnistion software the alternative of typing but not fast and I think typing is better than that. Yes I use it and the software not identify the words properly like if I want to type peace and I tell by mouth peace may be software type piece because the voice is same then I say full spelling peace then software type it. I not like the software.

Thanks a ton for posting this discussion. Wow i glad to hear about this wonderful software and i hope even i would use this one over here sometime in the future. i know it makes our typing very easy as we need not to write anything but then then that wont help us on a personal front. It can be used at times when we are having very large typing tasks but not every time. What say?
