Be a good listener!

A good listener is vital in building a good relationship. If we have sincere interest to others it propels us to listen. I believe that listening is the key to deepen and strengthen our relationship. For starter and developing relationship this principle applies well.
In my case, I try my best to be a good listener and give comments or suggestions to my friends whenever it is needed. Well, I guess everybody wants to be like that.

It is really good to have someone who would listen to you. When you're feeling down, sometimes, a good listener is all you need and then you're fine.
In a situation whereas one is having a misunderstanding with another person and wanted to talk to this person to settle everything once and for all, being a good listener is so important. We should not let our resentment control us and prevent us for being a good listener. There could be many reasons that can avoid us to listen carefully so it is not really easy. We should learn how to discipline ourselves and demonstrate respect to others.

A good listener is one that really give his full attention to what the other is saying. One should also make it a point that he knows what he is saying when ask for opinion or advice. Thanks!

Yup! That's true. We should know what we are saying. It's not good to give advice to a friend when we don't know what's the real situation or issue. We should be careful in giving our opinion or advice..

I agree Paper_Doll. If we have self-discipline and respect to our friends then no doubt we can pay much attention to listen.

The key to starting a good relationship with any one is listening. I believe this to be true. Those who start out their relationship with the key in mind to not listen they will be in trouble later. Communication is not just the part where you talk. It takes both to work out a healthy relationship.

We can only do our half of any of it. So i suppose work at your end and hope the other will do the same. Also mention this to them and hope they are listening, when you do.

I don't know that everyone wants to be like that. I have a cousin who talks constantly, mostly about her medical problems; but when someone is able to get a word in, she shuts down. She's like a DVD on still pause. After the other person has had his say, it's like the play button has been pushed and she picks up where she left off.

Perhaps that's her personality.. She loves to talk. Good thing she has good cousins like you who are always ready to listen.

Hi,
you are right. We should be a good listener. We should not force others to agree upon our opinion. Everyone has different views and we should respect others also. For good communication it is very important. We should listen others opinions and should give our suggestion or advice politely.

I also think that not everyone can be a good listener. I think people who has good listening capability will always be successful in life. I also think that starting and developing a relationship listening skills are needed.

There won't be a so called effective communication if there's not a good listener. I have made a similar discussion years ago. If one is not a good listener, one cannot be a good friend or companion. Being a good listener is vital to establish a good relationship.
