Sinister is a movie starring Ethan Hawke as a true crime novelist working on his next big story. He moves his family to the town where the crime happened, and begins his research. I don't want to give you any more than that, because for me, this movie was AMAZINGLY scary and disturbing. And the more I give you, maybe the less shocking it will be. I am a huge horror movie fan, and I love movies that really work at scarying you (and not just ones that try to be the goriest, and the nastiest). This movie deilvers on those scares. I did close my eyes a lot if I thought it might be bloody, but I'm not sure the movie really ever showed anything (they leave it up to your imagination). I may have to make another discussion just to talk about the movie with people that have seen it, but this one is just so I can tell anyone who likes horror movies to go see this one!

Sounds like my type of movie also. I don't like too much gore but I do like it when they make sense, lol! I just finished watching "The Bone Collector" which I haven't seen in a few years. It was just as good this time as it was the first time. Very well done movie as far as I'm concerned and you felt like you were right there. Did you ever see this one? I'll be looking for Sinister when it comes around..love crime and spooky stuff!

Is Bone Collector the one with Denzel Washington as the paralyzed detective? And the guy that is killing people in the city? If so, yes I've seen it. I thought it was good too. I also liked Along Came A Spider and Kiss The Girls.

Yeah I've always enjoyed thrillers too. Horror's and thriller's are my favorite genres (in both books and movies). So if you ever have any recommendations in either genre, you know where to find me! Haha

LilyoftheThorns, If you like Bone Collector and Along Came a Spider and Kiss the Girls, they are all movies in the thriller genres. Nowadays, I don't look for movies in the horror genres anymore because most likely these movies will be full of gore. I search for movies in the thriller/mystery genre and they sometimes do contain elements of horror.

I'm looking forward to watching this movie. I saw the trailer and it does seem like a really scary movie. I'm glad to hear that there's not much gore in the movie. I hate horror movies with too much gore which is why I stay away from movies like Saw and Hostel. Hate the torture/horror genre.

Oh! I don't know why I allowed myself to be talked into seeing Hostel...but I HATE torture! And I hated that movie. No Saw movies for me either. No need to stay away from this one though. It manages to be highlu disturbing without using a bunch of blood and gore! It leaves it all up to your imagination! Haha

Sounds like a good one. I find myself more disturbed by movies as I get older. How wimpy is that? I will turn the TV off and go to bed on the pretext that I need to sleep.

My mom and one of her friends is the same way. They used to like watching scary movies, but they can't handle them anymore. I hope that doesn't happen to me! Haha

Umm...no, I wouldn't say there is a twist in this movie or anything. But it doesn't need one! It's plenty scary and shocking without one! Haha Ethan Hawke did great! If you like him, you'll enjoy him in this movie!
