Let say its over 40 respondents in a discussions you gonna be the number 41 respondent,What do you have in mind knowing you are almost the last respondent?
In my view I don't mind answering a discussions with much respondent I think the starter of the discussion will take time to read all the responses. My response may not be read it will be just fine since It will still be counted in my account.
Your take mylotters?

When I respond on a discussion, I don't think whether I am the first or the number 41, but whether it is interesting or not.
But the only thing is when we are at 41, we will have to read all the earlier answers.
If still anything to say, we can reply or simply we can agree with someone else who have already expressed our idea.
Keep smiling.

Kameko, I agree with you, and I would add that it can be just as enjoyable to add comments to the posts of others expressing whether we agree, disagree, and / or adding more to that conversation as posting our own response to the question. I think it is good to remember that it is a discussion so it is nice to have a conversation with each other too.

It does matter to me whether a discussion has already received 100 responses or none. The only factor that I really care about is the subject in question. If a discussion interests me and I feel that I have a contribution to make then I will respond.

Hello indahfth hi montevilla, I also like to respond to a discussion that I think it is interesting, and I enjoy reading to other mylotters responses. And I even enjoy responding to other mylotter responses.
Mylot isn`t like taking a coffe with friends where you can talk if you are interested? Isn`t it?
Blessing indahfth & montevilla... dainy

hi montevilla, for me, i don't mind to respond to a discussion although the discussion:
1) has no respondent
2) has a huge number of respondents
3) is a very old discussion
as long as i have something to share in that discussion, i will just drop my response there.
let me share with you a bit about my experience in mylot:
1) i remember myself responded to an old discussion (with no respondent) which was started 5 years ago at the time i responded to it. i don't expect that i will receive a reply from the person who started the discussion (thinking that maybe he already no longer a member), but to my surprise he did reply to my response.
2) at another time, i responded to a discussion with a huge number of respondents (more than thirty respondents) and my respond came at number 37. to my surprise, i was awarded with the best response from the person who started the discussion. and the discussion continued until 60 responses in total.
actually we just need to do our part without needing to think about whether our respond will be in vain or not. as long as the discussion is interesting and we have something to say about it, why not we just drop our comments there, right?
and another thing, as you mentioned 41 respondent will be almost the last respondent, will you be shocked if i tell you that my discussions with the highest number of respondents are 174 respondents, followed by 143 respondents, 128 respondents, 102 respondents, 90, 83, 81, 79, 76, 68, 67, 62, and many others with more than 50 respondents.
sorry, i am not here to brag about my achievement, but my point is there is no limit of highest respondents in mylot. i believe that there are such possibility that a discussion can go up even to more than 200 respondents.

wow, your achievement is really interesting. although i am new here, i am really being encouraged that our respond is that much useful. yes, as long as we have something to share, there is no need to worry whether or not it will be read or is the discussion thread has many or few or even no responds. what is important is that we share our part, there are many mylotters here, surely there are some will be interested in it, and it is just a matter of time only. =) cheers!

When I come upon a discussion that interests me, I like to read the responses from others first and even if there are many responses, I will respond to the discussion after reading what others had to say. But if I'm not in the reading mood, I will only look for discussions with very little or no responses at all. I like to be the first to respond.

Why do you like to be the first to respond?

That is so obvious. Being the first to respond means that you don't need to read other people's responses that come before you and in so doing you're not "wasting" time reading but rather posting. You don't earn anything from reading, you know?

there are two approaches--some people go to hotels which are not crowded,. some go to hotels which are always crowded.
gold shops, textile shops are all kept in one place in India.crowd comes there. so it is right to respond more responded discussions not minding about reply.
occasionally i use to go to no responses and answer also.

but good hotels which serve quality food will have crowd. people go there. in chennai saravana bhavan is a good hotel which is crowded always.
about forty years ago in mylapore = Sukha Nivas was a busy hotel where people stand in queues for lunch. -=-same with Hotel palimar thirty years ago.

Sir bobby, I agree with you if I am interested in the topic and discussion, I will participate in the conversation even if there are tons of posts. I generally will read through what other people have already posted and add my comments into the discussion especially if there are already a lot of posts. Many times this strategy means that I will get more participation and interaction with the discussion rather than just posting my response, and having it go to the last page. When I'm done reading what others have said, I will post a response if there is something more that I feel I can add to the discussion.

The whole idea is to read those responses and if you have something to add, you have your say.
If I see a discussion and I have some experience to relate or something similar , I will add my response even if there are 400 responses.

I do not have a problem with responsing to a discussion that has a lot of responses.. I get curious to see what the discussion is about; and depending on the subject I will respond to it.. It is always nice to hear from the original writer; but if it doesnt happen thats cool too.. I am just happy to share my thoughts, opinions, and experinces with others.. Someone in the future may read it and it can help them with something that they are facing in their current situation.. Thats the best part about mylot discussions never expire...

Yes,I don't mind responding to a topic even if I will land on the 100th post.
As long as I can relate with the topic and it really catches my attention.
I respond to topic not because I am the first respondent, but because I can relate to the subject and I want to share my opinion/ideas or anything I know that I can share with the topic given.

I always respond if i know that i have something to say in the discussion.. or if i just like it.. It just depends on the starter of the discussion if he or she will read my post.. Maybe others will read it too. So it is not such a waste.

Hello montevilla,
I respond to the discussions which interest me it hardly matters how many responses it has got what make me responding to the particular discussion is the subject and I think that's the right approach.Sometimes it happens that a discussion already has got many responses but may not be an interesting one for me or vice versa.

I get paid for what I write here. What everyone else writes is alright but if I have something to say, I'm going to say it. Just in this instance I don't expect to have a back and forth conversation over it.

I respond to any disussion that interests me. It doesnt matter if there 50 responses or 2. I will add to the discussion if I feel that I have something to add to it.

montevilla well let me tell you if I get 40 responses and yours i s one of them I assure I will read it and will comment on it. I also respond to any discussion I am interested in whether it has two or 62 responses as I liked the discussion. I have no idea what anyone will do and am not thinking like that at all. I also respond even if the discussion poster gave a best response two minutes after it was posted.I will be paid anyway and I have had a chance to interact with the poster who is often one of my mylot friends.

I agree with you montevilla. Even though my response will not be that significant anymore but whats important is to earn money. As long as I have something to tell about the discussion then, I won't hesitate to answer.

Usually after i see that there ar 10 responses i dont even bother and i say this because i know after 10 responses its going to page two and even for me i dont read all the responses on my discussions after 10. Its to much and i really dont have the time for it and i need to get to starting more discussions or at least responding to some. I read the first page and give a best response and move on to other work things here on mylot.

myLot is about participating not about how discussions you can start. Especially if you started the discussion out of respect to those members commenting you really should read each response and comment back to them. It is only polite.

I was not able to respond on a discussion with such a number of respondents. But perhaps if I have something to say, it would be okay also. But most of the time, I would respond to discussions with less or no responses.
Have a nice day!
