hello friends, Do you maintain minimum balance in your cell phone? .Well most of my friends, don't. They just give me missed calls when they want to talk or if they have any work. I just got too irritated. I told them many times, just not to do that, in a good manner. But they are just shameless, it seems. . Now if its my work or their work, they only give missed call and i have to call them. What can i do to avoid this? any ideas? please share.

Don't call them back and I am sure they will stop doing that thing. I don't have the habit of maintaining balance load with my handset and my friends knows it as well. So, in times of emergency- they just called me to make sure that I've received any urgent message. I don't text a lot or reply to every text messages unless it's very important. I know it's really annoying when we receive unimportant calls and we are busy with our works.

jaiho you are a clever lady. you do not want to have balance so that you need not call. I always maintain a high balance. jaiho-- in philipines inward calls are also charged as in usa? In India no charges for inward calls.

Taking charges for incoming calls feel as a strange and it will be every difficult to maintain balance every time. At first this plan existed in some networks but was cancelled and I am quite sure that no one costs nothing for attending incoming calls

I have a 50 cent min. balance in mine. This allows me to make and recv. calls from 3 numbers for free. If you go under 50 cent they arent free. So I always leave this 5o cents to 75 cent son the phone at all times.

Hi maria, there is no advantage of keeping balance cent 50 in my country. Our servers service is perplexing and gives lots of service in lots of ways which we cant keep in mind. I wish They should have a public class in each week in a large field.lol

prashu it depends on relationship. if the friend is a good person who give useful suggestions or talks in a pleasing way then we may call two or three times and the next time make him/her call us. Or if we really know the friend is poor and he cannot recharge then we can call ourselves. you are the better judge. one reason can be your friend may not be employed.

@ sir ravi, No sir, there is no charges for receiving incoming calls from US to Philippines. I know in the US there are charges with incoming calls depending on your network carrier/provider. (as I have wrote on my other topic, I've worked with Sprint-Nextel as technical support)

jaiho: thanks. You worked for sprint-nextel. good. it is nice that there are not charges for incoming calls in Philipines. Canada, usa they are assigned number of minutes 150 per month or so that includes both inward and outward calls. That way we in India and philipine are lucky inward calls are exempted.

We people are allowed to give miscall till the balance turns zero. Now most of the plans are down to second billing. So a person can give a call even till even he has a balance of 0.1Rs , which is not sufficient to make a call but great enough to give a miss. There is no one who just used to give me miss calls. My friends or other ones just used to text me or just used to call me even if they need to share anything with me and I just sued to do the same.

I just love texting and I used to active those sms packs when I do not have enough money to make calls. I am glad to tell you that my cell operator provides me a lot of sms for a month with in less money. It is so cheap and I love to do it

Thanks a ton for posting this discussion. Yes u are right, i always feel that there are certain people around us who deliberately keep low cell phone balance so that they never get to call others and this is very cheap behavior. Whenever my phone balance reaches a minimum low balance i make it a point to recharge it to a value that will help to get connected to others. What say?

some even have zero balance. I don' know for what they use the cell phone. Some only maintain a balance which can be used to give missed calls. Not more than that. But its okay as long as they don't trouble us.

Good topic. I really get irritated If somebody gives missed call. I'l Just call them back and tell them I am not going to call back next time If you give a missed call and cut the call. Do not talk more. Believe me, You will get a call back in minutes. As like everybody, I hate such kind of behavior. Yeah, some people are really shameless, don't know what they can save by giving missed calls.

I don't believe and would want your friends to be shameless when they are probably caught in a situation. Prepaid subscribers will always face this minimum balance dilemma as everything is literally chargeable. Anyway, it is really your call as to what and how you would like to go about doing this. The way I see this, would have to either continue accepting your friends' shortcomings or stop calling them back so that they will go about "changing" their ways. Who knows, they might even consider doing away with their prepaid plan and go for the postpaid ones to support their heavy usage. For me, my mobile providers price plans includes free data usage where we will use the messenger chat services to communicate with one another when we do not feel like calling the other party. On one hand, it is cost saving and on the other, considerate when we just might be interrupting when the matter does not need an immediate attention.

yes , they use top ups with minimum money, and they never use it i don't know how can they ask each and every one to call them, its so embarrassing to ask anyone like that. Yes of course , it depends on me. I should act wise and get over the problem. Some of the friends suggested here, i will make a not of those points.

what i can only say is that, don't call them. they just give missed calls, so probably what they're going to say is really not that important enough. the reason why they keep on doing that is that you always call them back. why don't you let them call you, for a change. or maybe they could just send you a text message instead.

oh i'm sorry to hear that. i hope you told that friend about what s/he has done. it is annoying, irritating even. but anyway, just try to rationalize that if it was really very important, they would call you anyway.

Exactly , you are right my friend. One day it happened so, one particular friend was continuously giving me missed calls, i don't have balance at that point of time,i thought it may be something serious so she was giving missed calls, so what i did was, called from my mothers cell phone. The worst was, she just laughed and said , nothing serious , just want to talk and say hi, now you can understand of my condition ,i was so irritated. Cant help ,cant even be serious for her stupidity.

Hi friend, sad to hear about this, i am not in this sort. Always call my friends and clients. As i am doing own business, so i am in need to call a lot of clients for my business persons. Always i maintain a minimum balance of 200 rupees in my cell. Most of my clients give missed call to me, if they need my service and i will call them to know about the details. It is really hard to change this kind of Missed call persons mentality. If the friend is very important to you, then call him, otherwise ignore the missed call

yes, friend. Most people do it. If the people are outsiders, then we don't care about them. But our close friends who always give missed calls, they have money to watch a movie and for junk food, but never to charge their cell phone. Some people are like that.

Simple way to avoid it.I did it too. But a simple problem arises, your friends will not be good with u as before. next time they send you a missed call dont call them. when u meet him tell that u had no enough credit. do this next time and the next. your friend will never do that again.

hi true , they wont be with us like before, even if we need any help they wont come to help, this is really bad. I faced it already , if don't call they certainly refuse to help me, and see me as arrogant. how to handle such people?

I know a few people who do exactly the same, and I simply accept it and return the call. I have one friend who never uses his mobile to make a call, but instead sends a text asking me to call him. I do not have a problem with low credit because my mobile is on contract and therefore will not run out, but I can sympathise with those who cannot afford to do that. If you wish to stop this from happening then try sending a text message back saying "Sorry, no credit left" and they will eventually realise that if they do not telephone you then they will not manage to talk to you.

Hi there prashu, yes when i still had my prepaid account i always see to it that i do not run out of cellular phone balance so i can be sure that i am able to send a message to someone. it is hard when you are trapped in the middle of something and is unable to send a message especially if it is important that you do. I find it rather unbelievable that some people can live with out a peso or two in their account.. i feel its kinda weird for them to just wait around for people to call them, and expect this all the time... I don't know how this can be avoided when it comes to other people. i usually just kid my friend and give her hints that she should probably load her phone and not expect a call all the time.. she has always gotten used to just being called at. so when people stopped calling, she started loading! =)

I got a few dollars in my cell phone, however it has already expired, here in my country we buy RM10 for 1 week usage, after 1 week if you have not used up the balance, it will be carried out to the next time you reload your phone. I seldom call back my friends, I missed call them. Like you said, it is irritating to call every missed call we see.

I used to keep a minimum balance on my phone when I had a pay as you go telephone. I always had some credit on my phone so I could call home in an emergency. I don't really need to now as I have a contract phone.I have quite a few minutes and texts to use every month more than I have ever needed to use.Though even if I did use all my calls and texts for that month I still can use some my phone and the cost of any calls and texts will be added to my monthly bill. So as long as I have got my phone on me I can always make a phone call.

I always maintain a minimum balance. I never leave miss calls. It seems so cheap. If I totally run out of balance I'll rely on my message balance, but avoid giving miss calls. I recharge with a Rs.100 or Rs.200 each time my balance is reduced to Rs.20. That way I make it sure that if I'm in a trouble at any point of time, I can atleast call and get help. Miss calls are bad habits, if your friends are mature enough then they should understand the fact and mend their ways. What you can do is, each time you receive a miss call, SMS the friend and ask what's the matter. If you keep doing this, soon they'll be discouraged from leaving miss calls. Good day!
