Writing your own book?

If you had to write your own book, what would it be about?
This is something that I have thought about a lot in recent weeks because I am planning to start writing my first novel on November 1st. I have decided that I am going to write a story about a man who has cancer and dies, and leaves a letter for his daughters with some advice about how they should be living their life. The story would be in different parts, one part for each daughter which will describe the ways that they each reacted to the letter.
Have you got any ideas for a book that you would like to write?

November 1st, huh? Any particular reason you've chosen this date? (Nanowrimo, maybe? am I right? am I right? *nudge*nudge*) Coincidentally, or else not so coincidentally, I am also starting a novel on November 1st. It'll be my seventh. I'm really into sci-fi and fantasy, so it's going to be a sort of YA sci-fi novel, superheroes on an alien planet.

Yes this is the reason that I have chosen that date! I have wanted to do it for a couple of years, but I have always had other things to do. This year, now that I am self employed, I am working very hard this month so that I will have enough money to see me through next month without having to do as much work. This means that I will be able to dedicate the whole month to my novel. It is good that you've already thought about the theme for your novel, as I think that getting that initial idea can be the hardest part of it.

I've done NaNoWriMo two years before, and I did both sessions of Camp NaNoWriMo this past summer, and I really enjoyed it so I'm excited for this year! I think I actually find it easier to write when I dive in for a whole month. It's a good motivator for me.
So I hope you find it just as exciting! It was a little intimidating my first year, but now it's kind of my preferred writing time of the year. Maybe I'll see you around the message boards over there?

I imagine it would be easier if you knew that you had some specific targets to meet, and if you had the time to dedicate to it. I just hope that I will be able to do it without being too distracted. I already feel quite motivated, as I have had the idea for my novel several years ago but I just haven't had the time to be able to put it into words. I am a little bit daunted by the thought of writing a whole novel in the space of a month, but I am determined that I am going to make it work, and I am going to try and get the support from everyone on the message boards.

I have been working ona sci-fi novel for years now, also a crime thriller and a book exploring conspiracy theories, all of which are still very much works in progress. I think your story sounds like a great idea, it has a universal theme that most people can relate to and a touching and sentimental premise which readers will love.
I think NANOWRIMO runs through November, maybe you could use that to help you write it? Good luck and happy writing. :)

It is good that you're thinking about the things that you would like to write about, and I think that one of the things that you can do is to make sure that you have a good plan to be able to stick to when the time comes. I am certainly doing NANOWRIMO for the first time this year, and I am hoping that it will give me the type of motivation that I need to be able to get enough words in that time frame. I would very much like to be able to finish the book in a short amount of time and then I can get it published early next year.

You are so right a plan is absolutely what I need :) I think that I should also try and consentrate on finishing on at a time, instead of sporadically flitting around.
Good luck with nanowrimo and please do keep us mylotters upto date on your progress, I would love to know how you get on.
Publication for next year is an excellent goal, again do let us know where we can read your book when it's done. Has it got a title yet?

I have never dream of writing a book but I admire people who are gifted with creative minds. But who knows one day when i have enough confidence to pen my thoughts in hard cover book I will definitely write something that touches on life and love. Something that is close to reality. Fictional stories need gallons of brain juices which is lacking in me.

Yes I was always the type of person who would look at those who were able to write books and I would wonder how they could manage it. But now I know that the only thing that you need is a lot of time and some inspiration. When your story comes to you, you will be able to write it because you immediately know all about the things that you want to write about. This is what happened to me, and now I know about what I want to do, and I am very much looking forward to getting my story down on paper for other people to read.

That sounds like a great book and I would love to read it when you get it done. It sounds like something that would be very interesting and it would also be something that would hit home to me to a certain extent because of the fact that I lost my father when I was a teenager.
For me, I want to write a book about a widowed mother who wants her children to have a father but doesn't want to be in a relationship. It will be about the trials and tribulations of asking a male friend to adopt her children while not having a romantic relationship with their mother.

I am sorry that you lost your Father, and I think that it is good for people to be able to read books that they can relate to, because it means that you are able to channel your grief in another way. I just hope that my book will be able to help at least one person cope with a loss that they've had, because the book will be very sad but I hope that it will have a positive message. You book sounds as though it would be very interesting, and on an unusual topic as well so I imagine it will be amazingly challenging to write.

Hi Gem! That is a very idea to start with. I know you will be successful with that plan.
Personally, I am not a good writer and although I also want to write a book, I just don't know where to start. That is why I am really glad to know that you are planning to write a novel. You know, I only want to write a book about my experiences in life and how I was able to know that I can earn online and after several years, I became very successful and doesn't need to work in a regular job anymore. Something like that, but of course I can not do it right now because I am just starting and I need more experiences in order to begin with it.
I'm sure you will be very successful with your career in writing. Have a nice day!

I think that the best thing that you can do with regards to being a good writer is to just practice. I think even websites like MyLot are good for things like this, because of the fact that you are constantly writing to others and learning about good ways that you could get your ideas across to people. It is good that you have found a way to make money, and it makes a lot of sense that you should want to share your knowledge with other people. I know that it can be hard to write, so I think that you should go for it and at least make a start.
