Why Do People Keep Thinking that the Soul is Immortal?

Even 'Christ Church at the Ark' (email: laidbashour at clearwire.net) says it is. But it SO is not! I've heard it said (by the leader of a 'Mars Hill'-church) that the soul is like 'the light' from a 'light-bulb' (body) with 'electricity' (God's Spirit-breath) running through it; you flip off the electricity or unplug the light-bulb, the light isn't 'dead somewhere!' It just never is anymore! That's another reason why I don't think you go anywhere after you die---"you" doesn't exist anymore when you're dead!

I don't think the soul is immortal? Because if we refer into the bible it says that when peoples die. The soul of body will bury together with the body and the spirit back to God. So, I think the spirit is the immortal one not the soul...

The soul is like the light that comes from the 'light-bulb' (body) when the 'electricity' (spirit) is moving within it. When the spirit stops moving, the body is burnt-out and the soul ceases to exist; like when you turn off the electricity ... the light doesn't 'go anywhere,' it just 'is no more!'
