I heard from a respected doctor of a private tertiary level hospital in our city that aluminum is highly associated with Alzheimer's disease. If so, people like me and my family who are takers of antacids which have high contents of the mineral are very prone to the disease. I would like to know if somebody out knows a hell lot about it since i could be in danger of developing the disease if the case proves to be true. That is not my only problem though, almost all the members of our family are hyper-acidic. Therefore, almost all of us take antacids daily. Anyone who knows anything about Alzheimer's please do say something.

There is much controversy about the relation between aluminum and Alzheimer's. I have found several articles you may be interested in. www.webmd.com/alzheimers/guide/controversial-claims-risk-factors www.alzheimers.org.uk/site/scripts/documents_info.php?documentID=99 and www.tree.com/health/alzheimers-disease-aluminum.aspx If you think you have aluminum in your system here is a link that might help you get rid of it with natural remedies www.earthclinic.com/CURES/aluminum-poisoning.html I hope this helps and calms your fears. The first time I heard about a relationship between aluminum an Alzheimer's was way back in the 60's. People stopped buying aluminum pans and other cookware. Then it was stated that there was nothing to worry about. Just like many other things they warn us of and later retract it. Good luck!

I think you're safe for now. But the earth clinic site tells how to rid your body of aluminum, I think. Also, they are working on coconut oil with Alzheimer's patients. It is showing some progress. One thing I saw was incorporating it into butter and using it like a spread as well as cooking with it.

Thank you for posting this.
I have heard a cookware salesman talking about the risk of developing alzheimer's disease by using certain kind of cookware. I didn't bother to ask more questions nor take what he said seriously. This is also the first time i heard about that certain effect of antacids. I used to be hyper-acidic and used to popping antacids Fortunately, my hyperacidity disappeared when i got pregnant and didn't come back even after I gave birth.
I will read more about alzheimer's from now on. Thanks again.

That is wonderful to hear. Losing your hyper-acidity after giving birth is something of blessing to you. Hyper-acidity bothers us especially when we are stressed. Well, it proves to be a theory still. So we'll never know unless it's proven to be true.

I had read before that One theory on the subject has an abnormal deposition of Aluminium in the brain being a suspected cause..but it was also thought to be a brain chemistry disorder that was causing the buildup in the first place,so coming in contact with the metal in the environment and daily life was NOT thought to be a risk factor or cause of this..

The human body is a complex machine. They still do not know everything about how the human body works and why. And they really still do not know what is truly good for us or not. Look, we need lots of vitamins and minerals to survive. And to stay healthy. But there was a study about victims that said they are not good for us. We need to eat a certain way, certain foods. All this garbage they call food that they sell here is processed garbage. And the meat we eat is pumped up with tons of stuff. So who knows if Aluminum is associated with Alzheimer's. Anything is possible.
