Which Is Harder To Learn: Cantonese or Mandarin?

I have heard that Cantonese is par-to-par a more difficult language than Mandarin to master? Apparently, it has more tones and more complexity in its verbal composition than Mandarin - are there any native or tutored speakers in either Cantonese or Mandarin, or better yet, both? I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

both are hard especially when it's your first time learning it. in my case, it will be the hardest. i don't even know any single word of them and worst the characters are so unique that it's like just writing a sketch. it's one of my wishes learning that language. i have many chinese friends but we only use english to understand each other.

Yeah same here, I have many asian friends as well - four of them can speak Mandarin and one speaks Cantonese as well as Mandarin. I love the sound of both the languages, like the dips and tones and what not. It's superb to listen to. Just wish I knew exactly what they were saying. I share your sentiment, both languages sound like singing when spoken.
