Do you buy online from China?

Australia

Hi MyLotters :) Here in Australia, the retailers (shop owners) are cracking up at the the amount of money Australians are spending online, in particular, how much we are spending in China. The retailers are saying that they are loosing out and have been demanding that the Federal Government change the laws - they want the limit on tax-free imports to be reduced to $80 instead of being $1000. I buy items online from China. Most of the time, they are the same item as what I can get in the shop (nearly all of them are the same as home shopping catalogue items) at only a fraction of the price. Most items I get have free shipping. Personally, I think the retailers should reduce their prices so that they can compete. What do you think? Do you buy items online? What about from China?

Yes I do!I use Ebay a lot, since I can pay with PayPal,and I find a lot of things much cheaper than on Canadian or American sites, never mind stores!I'll give on example:I received a Kindle e-reader for my birthday, and I wanted to buy a cover for it.I checked out the stores first, and they were selling for 39.99+tax(and in Quebec taxes are 15%),So I went on ebay, and found one (the same like in the stores) for 9.99,No taxes, free shipping,So what if I had to wait 3 weeks! Also it is great for costume jewelry ,a fraction of the price.

Hi Dear aghiuta,I am a ebay seller in China too,I admit that now"made in China" do not indicate it is a high quality products but actually you can check the feedback, every online seller will have a feedback, and I strong believe that there are many good and honesty online sellers in China like me,(my feedback is 100% positive). And actually there are many good products in China with a little higher price but still competitive compare with others. If you guys just focus on the prices may be you will buy some low quality products,so I think people should not just focus on the lowest prices but also should pay more attention to other good products in China. If you guys have any demand about Chinese products pls contact me then I will try my best to source for you.

Which website that you go to buy all these things with free shipping? Are you sure it is the same thing with retailers there? There are a lot of fake items in China. I personally do not trust doing business with China. China makes their product so cheap, the quality is questionable. Chinese people doing business is like snakes. Everything is possible, they will try to do anything to make profit. Better for me to look at the items, rather than seeing it online. If I want to buy then I can go to chinese mall here. You will know the quality, and sure what it is that you are buying. Buying online is a "no" for me from Chinese people. I won't trust whether they are sending it or not. I know that almost everything is made in China. But if buying in the stores, you know the brand. Many brands are made in China, but I trust the brand. Their quality requirement is already there. China is full of fake products.

The quality depends on the price. I am Chinese and i admit a lot of fake products here, but still have many good quility products. About the copy, has low and medium and high quality. Last week, one of my company customer wanted to buy some famous copy brand bag. Then i took him to a very good copy market. The price between 100 to 250 dollors, He said it is very expensive and thought the copy here is very cheap here. The cheap price copy is very easy to find out is real or not. Actually, a lot of famous brands products are made in China, but just put that brand name on it. It calls OEM and brand comapny just do the marketing. So it means we pay 80% of the brand product price for marketing and service. Finally, i just want to say quality deponds on the price.

Hi, I buy from retailers in person and online, in Australia and overseas. A lot of items come from China either way, through an online store, or through the retailer selling goods from China. :-). Anyways, today the postman brought me a package from Poland. :-) I am probably a shopaholic.

Just like here in the U.S.. you can thank big business for all that. They are the ones who hire people from other countries and they are the ones that move factories over seas so they can make a bigger profit. Look, I always look for cheap deals. I hate over spending on items that I can et cheaper some where else. But they claim that it costs more here because they have to pay people more. Thats bull. Its all about profit. Here in the U.S. they hire a lot of illegals to do the work at a fraction of the cost, but yet charge more for the product. So keep on buying where you get the best price. They need to be taught a lesson.

I like to buy most of my stuff online but mainly tools and certain electronics. However, higher end stuff is a pain because there is a chance of getting fakes like all of the fake Beats circulating (even though the fakes have better quality than the reals) it is a pain and if you're wondering, I do not/did not buy the beats, they were my friends .

I tend to buy things online a lot. And also a lot of my clothing is from china. I go to stores like yesstyle, and other stores that sell clothing at a super cheap price (although the shipping is super expensive.) I don't live in Australia so I don't know what is going on there, but the GOV. hasn't said anything about this here in the U.S. I think buying from other countries is bad for our economy, but I go wherever the prices are cheaper!

Hi Mindy :) Thank you for your reply =D I agree that buying online isn't the best for the local economy but, like you, I go where ever the prices are cheaper ;) Even when I go food shopping here in Perth, I don't buy everything from the one supermarket - I shop for the specials ;) Thank you for your reply Mindy!

China is reputed to produce low quality products. The products are cheap but are fragile. I rather spend more for quality products than accumulating. Junks from China. When i visited Australia I wanted to buy souvenirs for people back home but couldn't find anything that are made locally. I ended buying kangaroo. Keychains made from china. I have never bought anything online yet but even if i want to buy online I make sure that the product is not from china. We have too many things made from china sold at dirt cheap prices here. My country has become a dumping ground for china made inferior goods which has given me a bad perception of china made goods. There are good ones no doubt but the middlemen spoilt the market by going for cheap stuffs for fast turnover and quick bucks.

Yeah, in China, young people often buy things online. sometimes in order to get the precise commodity especially shoes, coats and trousers, we will go to the shopping mall to try it first and remember the item NO., then type in the number online to buy the exactly the same one in a lower price, I think this is a good way to save maney and time, especially for persons like me who doesn't have time to shopping in real life.

Well... do buy China products - gadgets and clothes but not food. I don't buy online though. I buy from a retailer store. I am not from the US but from the Philippines and despite the arguments we have with China we still have their products as our options.

China products are very affordable but disposable , no durability. Sometimes i come to think , am i not wasting my money for these things ? Sometimes we must be a wise buyer , don't look at the price but look at the durability. For me Uncles Sam product is an example.

Yes i buy a few stuffs from China online and I am satisfied with what I have received so far. I also buy things online from UK. I also go for free shipping items mostly, but the problem with free shipping is that it takes a long time for you to receive items.

I am from China and I do a lot of online shopping from our shopping sites. The prices may vary from products to products, some cheap and some expensive, depending on its quality. For those who desire to buy cheap things, the quality is different. Usually you get what you pay. It all depends on one's shopping level on price. It is a pleasure to do online shopping. It is convenient and fast. Enjoy online shopping.

We are very careful not to buy ANYTHING that originates in China. Chinese products are always inferior, and Chinese food products are often tainted with poisonous additives. Its becoming difficult to get fish that are not raised in polluted Chinese lakes and rivers, because there are few laws in China which prohibit poisonous chemical additives in the fish diet. We are having trouble finding good solar electric batteries for our stock fences because the Chinese can make them cheaper (and therefore inferior) than anyone else. Chinese have killed their own babys with polluted baby food. Anyone who uses Chinese products or food, are endangering their own livelihood. For your own sake buy American!

I buy all the big, heavy, blokey, industrial stuff from China. It's a different story in the USA, but down here, no-one manufactures anything at all anymore. I tried every single state. We have huge copper mines, but no one bothers to refine the stuff here & why should they when we can ship ore off to China, they do everything for a fraction of our wages & ship it back for much cheaper than we can make the stuff. My last order was for copper mesh, the best grade & the smallest quantity for the best price. I juggled the deals of over a dozen manufacturers & ran them all up against each other's offers. I got a great deal. I'd really love to support local industry, but it's not even possible in this copy-cat climate. Retailers here can't reduce prices without cutting more jobs. Haven't we seen enough cuts & closures already? I reckon it's back to being a nation of dole bludgers again!
