You should call home to see if dinner is ready, if it is not, tell them that you're going out with friends for dinner; if it is done, then go home for dinner or eat it for breakfast. :P

Eating with friends would be fun but the fact that your parents are waiting dor you in dinner, better go home and it with them. Maybe you could schedule your dinner with friends so your parent will understand and will not wait for you in dinner.

I always prefer home-cooked meals over those from eating out anytime of the day. Of course I also have my favorite dishes specially made by restaurants but I only eat out when there's something special to celebrate on. It can also be costly over eating at home so it is something that I cannot afford to do on a daily basis.

I would prefer to eat at home with my parents. The fact that they are waiting for me before they it matters a lot. So as appreciation, I will eat together with them. I can eat with my friends next time, when my parents are not waiting for me to eat with them anymore. :)
