Back in the late eighties or early nineties there was a tv version of Beauty and the Beast about a newspaper woman and the man-beast she meets in the sewer. And there was also a version of Cinderella made in the movie Ever After with Drew Barrymoore in it. Both were really good. I enjoy them also. Just recently saw the Snow White and the Huntsman which was really good.

It's really nice that they do some remakes of those fairy tales. At least, young and old alike can once again watch it together, like the granny, the grandchildren and their mommies.
The grandchildren would have a new experience while the mommies and grannies will be like reminiscing their childhood days of fairy tales.

What is good with a fairytale is that it has a happy ending. And good always prevails.

Fairy tales are primarily made to promote the importance of good morals especially to the kids. It's a shame that nowadays, movies are teaching rebellion and violence to the young people just because that's where the money is. But it's great to see those old stories coming back to life to teach us the things that really matter in our lives.

Fairy tales are classics. I suppose many people of today who used to enjoy reading them in books would want to relive the experience through movies and tv shows with the special effects and all.
I think it's fun to watch fairy tales become more modern on screen. I think the Cinderalla story is the most abused(i mean most used) on tv LOL

It's a good thing that fairy tales are making a comeback in the theaters and teevees.
It's a joy and a great bonding time for the whole family specially the kids enabling us to share the experience of our favorite cartoon characters.

I usually enjoy remakes of fairy tales. Especially if the remake has not become dark. I'm not all that fond of dark movies, and there are way too many of them as far as I'm concerned. But one that is done nicely, with good triumphing over evil, I almost always enjoy.

Once Upon a Time, while following fairy tale characters, doesn't tell fairy tales, at least not in the same manner.

I'm a complete sucker for Fairy Tale retellings. I've been watching Once Upon a Time religiously, and it's really the only show that I even watch on television. I'm a big fantasy geek, and it's one of the only fantasy shows on network television.
I've been totally eating up all the fairy tale retellings coming out. I'm super excited to hear there's going to be a Beauty and the Beast tv show! That's my favorite fairy tale. I'm not sure how it would effectively stretch into a tv series, but like I said, I'm a total sucker. If there's a fairy tale retelling, chances are I will willingly hand over my money for it.
I think the way a story lives on is through retellings. I don't even mind if the entire story changes a whole bunch, because I love seeing elements that I recognize told in an entirely new light.
