My children like mince and gravey and mashed spuds together side by side on a plate.... but they don't like Shepherd's pie! My children like meat and gravey on a plate with cooked rice on the plate but don't like it as riositto! They are not keen on fish in sauce but they like fish pie which is fish in sauce with smashed spuds on top! Do your children have funny eating habits? Would you care to share with us?

My daughter doesn't like hamburgers but she likes ground meat with other things like pasta. My daughter loves chicken nuggets but at certain places she hates it and I don't know why other then the way they cook them. children are so funny. At one time my daughter wouldn't eat her grill cheese sandwich unless she could dip it into sausage gravy.

Mmmm, the fish pie sounds yummy. I do not have children, but some of the people I have cooked for act like them. I like to make up fancy names for the dishes I serve. It probably doesn't fool anybody, but I get a kick out of doing it.

When my kids were little, they did not like macaroni cheese unless I put a smiley face on it with tomato sauce. It was the same with meat and veggies. I had to make a face on the mashed potatoes with pieces of carrot and peas.

Mmmm, fish pie sounds wonderful. Well, I don't have kids, but some of the people I have cooked for act like them. I usually come up with fancy names for the healthy stuff I make. It probably doesn't fool anybody, but it pleases me.

My granddaughter was very picky to the point of going around the neighborhood and asking for food. Yes, she did. I had social services called on me because of this. My grandson is very picky too. He won't eat most vegetables except brocolli and green beans. He has gotten to where he will eat things with onions in it but he didn't used to. He is a nutty kid. Not sure how he will do this Winter when we eat cabbage, brussel sprouts, beans and such.

Green beans don't go down very well in our house, brocolli is a big hit in our house. Cabbages as well but not brussels.

I guess children can be funny when it comes to food...is one thing to have meat and mash in the same plate...but shepherds pie is all together the same with risotto is all cooked together I think they like to see the separate ingredients on the plate so they can pick and chose how to eat it!

Mine can be pretty particular also. They do like things put together like pastas, soups and stews. Casseroles. But it has to be saucy. A lot of times children dont like to eat things that are all together because of textures of foods.

Mine went through a phase of not liking casseroles so I used ot tell them it was meat done in gravey..... they eat it then. Sadly doesn't work with Shepherd's pie and risiotto

Recent studies have shown tht many children ave ultra sensitive mouths. Texture means almost as much as flavor. I just learned this and after spending hours trying to force a child to eat I have a hugh guilt riding on my shoulders.

Please don't feel guilty, I'm sure we have all done that at some stage in our lives. I'm guilty as well

My six year old grand twins have their foibles too. They will not eat cheese in scrambled egg but eat scrambed egg with a slice of cheese on their plates. They will not eat an omlette containing sausage but again will eat sausages if they are placed beside the omlette. I could go on and on as all food has to be placed separately on a plate even if traditionally they are served together. They love brown sauce so I always have to aske people to bring it for me from the U.K. I brought four large bottles so that will last easily until Christmas when my youngest son comes out on vacation.

they are very hard to cultivate at the start,so it will take some time to get satisfied and make them feel comfortable to eat in a plate
