Friends , we sometimes commits some mispelled words , or using words not appropriate . This is but okay right ? But if committed often and grammar is really faulty , it is a little bit pity , annoying and disappointing . Sometimes i am bit discouraged because in my mind some people are not striving to develop , learn and grow in the English literary world. I have this in my mind because its a violation to go against wrong grammar , then some just tolerated themselves. How are we going to grow , learn and develop ourselves ? When shall we start developing ourselves ? How can we compete globally if our English is poor. One of my many purpose in writing her is to develop my literary skill more , so in near future , i can compete globally , and can bring honor to my land .

I think it's wonderful that Mylot lets people from all over the world join and participate even if English isn't their native language. So what if their English isn't perfect? They're really brave to come here and post publicly... even more so because Mylot doesn't have an edit feature so they can go back and correct mistakes when they realize them!

I myself don't come from an English speaking country. I understand how difficult it is for a person trying to express themselves in this language when they are still carrying the learners tag. I don't declare myself as proficient in English either but I try in every possible way to support those who are battling their way constructing sentences in the hope that their messages are understood by all. One thing good about mylot is its open policy that doesn't expect its members to produce journalistic writings which is an advantage to those of us whose English are still considered as kinder stage. Given time and support I have no doubt that they can improve dramatically in this language . In the meantime let us be patient and to close one eye when we happen to encounter alien words that tickled our minds. We learn new words everyday here and the experts are also trying to expand the English vocabs to add to the beautiful and rich English language. Who knows they stumbled upon mylot and uncover interesting words to be adopted for their new English dictionary.

hi zandi I think that poster has not read the guidelines thoroughly as we are not to criticize others here for poor grammar.I feel we are all welcome here and lets be patient with one other . they do learn and in time many are better at English than I am.remember folks The Golden rule: do unto others as you wouldhave them do unto you and stop criticizing others.

I have a hard time with people not spelling or even trying to word things in the correct format. I sometimes i have to be turned away from responding to a discussion someone started becasue of the grammer being so wrong. I know they need help but my gosh at least but the words in the right order so i know what the heck your trying to say. Sometimes i dont even know what there trying to say but i sometimes try to figure it out in a way but just cant commit myself to even respond back with a nice response sometimes i say im sorry but im not sure what you are trying to say if i knew what you were takling about i could maybe answer to your discussion.

That's true. Some of us aren't able to respond to some discussions simply because we can't understand what the person is trying to say due to either faulty grammar or unorganized thoughts.

Lolo , that is also, what i am sometimes experiencing. I want to comment or join in discussion but the thing is i am not getting what one wants to deliver to the audience. Wish all of us will strive harder to make our discussion with sense.

As per Mylot's discussion guidelines I quoted this "Now for the DON'Ts: Post discussions, responses or comments criticizing members for bad/broken English or bad spelling. Everyone is welcome at myLot, we have users from all around the world and they are welcome regardless of their proficiency with the English Language." That is one thing that I liked from Mylot, for being undiscriminating on its members proficiency in English. To compete and excel globally doesnt necessitate us to have a strong command of English. I worked with several doctors and specialists of different nationalities with VERY poor English grammar and weak vocabulary yet they do excellent job on their respective professions. Lets not forget Manny Pacquiao, he is not proficient in english but he is I think the second highest earner in sports arena, worldwide. Venus Raj, That "major major" mistake didnt stop her from bringing the title of Miss Universe 2010 (Fourth Runner-Up). There are even Americans who dont practice proper English grammar and spells english words wrongly. I think its only us Filipinos who are so critical on English grammar which I believe is should not be.

Having good command of English is our edge over other nationalities. Remember , one reason why a Filipino is hired abroad is they can speak English , then what more if she got an excellent command of English ? She will stand out from the rest and this would be her X factor in this so competitive world. Yes Manny P. brings a name to the world . It is a different thing , it is a talent. Learning English is not a talent , it is a thing to be learned . Yes , so many ways you can bring honor to your land , having a good communications skills i believe , is one of it !. Maybe it just happen , Senator Santiago is my idol , that is why striving and dreaming to be like her .

It is difficult to understand what is being communicated without when the wrong word or spelling is used. It is good that you want to improve your English but unfortunately, with forums like this, you are not likely to get help in terms of improving your grammar or writing. Spell check helps but it will not capture mistakes like: "One of my many purpose in writing her is ", which should be here instead of her.

Yes i know , but sometimes we type fast , without trying to check whether the keys properly prints . Glad to inform me about this mistake , but honestly as i said , it was a typographical error , excuse me for that mistake.

hik Angelpink the thing he or she is trying to say is we should all check our own responses first before criticizing others here as we all do make typos and we all should edit first before posting.also lighten up on those who use English as a second language as my lot admins asked us to. this is not a college course a d is not graded. We are supposed to all be welcome here and have fun.It is not fun if you criticize others who do not have your own ability.

You have a very good attitude towards self-growth. And you're right about it. We should constantly strive to improve ourselves, even in how we write, spell and think.

Exactly Beamer , we should not stop developing ourselves . Learning is unending process , we stop only if we'll die. No age limit for it , so long as one is willing then growth and development is on the way .

Hi. When I joined mylot at that time my English was very poor as I am not from English speaking country. I make grammatical errors and hence some of my discussions were deleted because no one understands what I want to say. But my level of English gradually increased and I think I have pretty good English now. So if any member makes grammatical mistake we can ignore it as he/she could improve his/her English. We can give him/her confidence so that he/she can make contribution here. Cheers.

It is really important that we practice our English communication skills because we improve day by day. Although, others just have difficulty doing so, we should not blame them, at least they are trying. let us just correct their mistakes so they learn from it.

I also pity them but I appreciate more of them specially if I feel that they are really striving to communicate to others. In those simple way they feel that they are trying to develop and learning English more. I also salute you for still developing your skills literally even if you have a good command of English already. :) Happy mylotting. Good luck

Learning is a lifetime process. All have a room for growing and developing only if he or she is willing. One growth depends on the interest and willingness of the person.

Well, not all people are really gifted in understanding and writing English language well. Most are struggling to do it better but most of the time fails. As for me, I can teach basic English but not the complicated one, and since I'm into writing serious books or article so I don't bother to really use uncommon words when I write. I make it simple and very easy to understand. In fairness to those mylotters who tried hard to stay here even though they're struggling with their grammar, I think they're okay as long as they want to stay in here. Happy mylotting to all of us.

Well committing a mistake in spelling and grammar is tolerable here. However, since many users are here to earn money, they don't spend enough time to think of the words that they will say or to check if their grammar and spelling is correct. Their main objective is only to respond or post new discussions and earn. And we can't blame them. We have different purpose in joining mylot. Some for money. Others for leisure. Others just wanted to improve their grammar and vocabulary. I think that mylot is a great place to improve your grammar and vocabulary as well as exposing yourself to different cultures of different country. Since mylot is a site that allowed any nationality. And it's a great place to build connections and gain friends

It is nice that you have a goal in why you participate here in Mylot. But I think you should understand that not all who participate in here are english literate like most of us. Even I do commit those errors and at times some grammatical errors do occur when I write response or submit a post. I think that is Mylot's responsibility to filter them out and pay them the appropriate rate for their participation. I think this site is to encourage everyone to participate and bring their mind out. I do not think that perfect grammar and spelling is neccessary for as long as their thoughts are conveyed with it. But of course for those that are really not understandable then I guess it will be Mylot's responsibility what to do about it.

Yes there are mylotters who do have bad grammar, but we cannot also blame them especially ones whose language is not their native language. Sometimes we just have to be patient and try to understand it on our own.

The reason people on my lot make spelling and grammar mistakes is because a lot of people on hear aren't native English speakers. Its very difficult to write in another Language I know I couldn't write in another language than my own.Spelling mistakes and bad grammar doesn't bother me all I want is for people to be able to communicate their ideas. The only discussions I have not responded to are ones that I can't understand what they are about or when I can't understand the point they are trying to make.So I don't know how to respond.

I usually notice people having a hard time with verb tenses and I know this is quite tricky since I learned several of my years in school with these. Also, English fluency takes a lot of practice after all things can be learned and mastered through the test of time. It is also highly-recommended to read at least 3 books in a month to enrich one's vocabulary. People are unable to communicate some subject areas because they lack words to describe it. This is what I love about mylot, it further improves my written skills in English.
