i was thinking about the same thing too earlier today..
i was hoping someday..some movie maker will remake THE LAST STAR FIGHTER..in better standard than th eoriginal 80s version..its a great and cool fun film..just that ..at that time the CG standard is very very low compared to todays effects using computers..TRON and THE LAST STARFIGHTER is the first 2 movies in the world to use computer to generate special effects..

oh..yes.. before TRON..there no movies using computer to do effects...
only using real props for effects or carefully adding the effects on celluloid..
TRON was the first.. looks great back in 1982.. but looks horrible to compare with todays CG technology. ..then LAST STAR FIGHTER continued to bring more depth and
details too special effect using computer but still very infancy stage..BACK TO THE FUTURE stole the idea of the car shape from this film..

No, I like the old ones and think they'd lose a lot if they were remade. Remember Plan 9 from Outer Space? The "special effects" were hilarious and you could even see the string on the "flying saucer" in some shots. Old movies have a charm they would lose if they were remade. And today's actors don't have the presence of a Bogart, Bacall or Barrymore. In fact, they are like cardboard posters compared to people who had to really act without the benefit of special effects. They WERE the special effects.
I'm one of those who rarely watches current movies because I think they are boring and predictable. I much prefer the old ones with their simple effects and superior acting. Silent ones are even better.

I agree! Perhaps I needed a better word than remake, which implies replace..?

Ah no! I think the old Sci Fi films with the kooky and outdated " special effects" are great. It makes them cult films. And the plots were simple. To remake them it may not work. I must confess, it is hard for me to find a remake I like.

mostly i love them how they are and watch some over and over. i dont think there is a Bette Davis movie that could ever be right made over. but theres a couple i think of others could be remade but that depends on who they put as actors for the new ones. as far as sci-fis, i dont care about the special effects stuff. i just care about certain actors. i cant figure why they dont make new movies out of some of the older books that have become popular? so many good things to choose from. like the Angelique series of stories from the 70's.

I wish someone would do a mini series of "Gone With the Wind". The actors in the original were much too old for the parts they were playing and a good share of the book was left out.
A lot of old movies are remade and not for the better. I enjoyed the first "Clash of the Titans" much more than the second version.

Have you ever noticed that remake movies are never as good as the originals? I went to Alice in Wonderland and was so disappointed especially with the Mad Tea Party, which wasn't a party at all. Also the Walrus and the Carpenter Rhyme was not included! Could it be that the movie-makers think 3D is going to make up for all the left out content?
Next time I'll just rent the original!

WHY??????!!!!!! To me the black and white movies are so much more realistic. Take for instance The Day the Earth Stood Still. You can't beat Micheal Rennie and Billy Grey's performance anywhere! I love the old vintage black and white movies. I don't have any movies I would like remakes made of. I am so sick of the Fairy Tale remakes they are making recently. Only two I have seen have been any good. I am really sorry you feel the way that you do.

I think that old movies have their points and some are classics that could not be made better in a remake. I love to see new movies and have fun with new special effects. But remakes are as boring as having a remake of a book already written.

No I don't want any remake of the old movies. I like them the way they are. They are made in a different time and I do believe they are really great the way they are made at that time. I don't all those new special effects. They frequently kill the movies, change the whole atmosphere. I have good memories to the old movies I saw also because of the way they are made.

Yes, I would like The Powder to have a remake. That is one of the favorite movies that I used to keep on watching when I was young. It wasn't really the black and white movie before. I just want a remake with a bit of twist. I think I would like that movie even more.

NO NO NO!Thats just wrong.Anyone who says old B&W movies need to be remade because of special effects or whatever is not a true fan of movies.
Colin farrel did not need to remake TOTAL RECALL or FRIGHT NIGHT.The originals were great in their own ways,no matter how cheesey.
Noone will agree on this subject but usually the people who say 'old' movies need to be remade are the people just currently finishing or going through puberty, which means they are probably the type use to DVRs and digital cable. When my favorite movies were out,DVRs were a thing of sci-fi,Like lightsabers or hoverboards.
Before you complain that movies need to remade,if you dont enjoy them the way they were originally, there is a very good chance youd hate the remake even more because good movies are hard to come by in the 21st century.
So a remake in the 21st century is begging to be hated.
