Boy Negro has just finished high school and is on a crossroad (can't decide) on what college course to pursue. Should parents get in the picture to assist him? What's their part in the selection of the course for Boy Negro? Post your ideas.

Being a parent it is our obligation to guide our children in shaping their future. I remember when my son was on the same situation two years ago. He actually asked us on what particular course he could take because he wanted to be like me, you know what I mean. So I told him that there is no particular course needed in order to be employed in our office but of course if he wants to be successful on this field, I advise him to take either law or AB Political Science. Now he is on his second year in college taking AB Political Science.

With you giving him all the support, moral and everything, I wish for him to succeed in the course he is taking.

No, I think the parents shouldnt interferr with the decisions. Maybe,t aking a few years off to decide and work full time might help. I know many I went to college with who;s parents got in the middle who ended up dropping out, and wasting throusand of dolalrs on noting.

The child must be made to work first full time before being made to decide on a course to pursue in college, is this what you means?

They could give him a guidance as to the nature of the work each field of degree he is considering. That way he could have a guided choice or decision as to what degree to pursue. :) i think that's their only role. The boy should be left with the options and it's up to him to choose what he really wanted.

If after a period of time, he shows disinterest in his chosen course, what will you do?
