...so tired of going to work everyday

I'm almost five years now with my present job as a ship design engineer and I have been doing the same routine everyday for almost five years!
Everyday, I have to wake up early (as early as 5am) then take a bath, sometimes, I eat breakfast at home and sometimes not. After preparing ourselves (me & my fiance) for work, we will now go to our service (bus station) which is a tricycle ride away from our home. We will ride the bus going to the port because we use a RORO (ferry) going to work. Sometimes, we arrive at the bus station too late and all the buses are gone. So we have to walk soooo far to find a cab going to the port or travel another way by road which is soooo far too. It's too annoying if we're being left by the bus almost everyday and we have to walk very far. So good thing nowadays, it's not happening anymore. lol
When the ferry arrived, we still have to walk a few meters then use the elevator going to the main gate. Then from the main gate, we will for another bus going to our office. We leave the house at 6am, arrive in the office at around 7:45am. See, the traveling alone is so tiring.
Work starts at 8am, whole day in front of the computer, whole day seated. Well thanks to short breaktimes and lunch breaks and those times I have to pee and drink as I can be able to stand for few minutes.
So tired of these things over and over again.
Your thoughts, anyone?

Consider yourself lucky cause not all people are blessed to have work, you know?
There are things we have to be thankful than complaining...
But, yes, I know, it's very tiring to have a trip from home to work, that's why sometimes it's better to have a job at home.
Oh well, where are you in the Phils, where are those ferry from and to?
How many hours does it take for you to go to your work?
Five years in same field is a pleasure, I may say. As long as you are happy with what you are doing, there's no problem with that.
Ship design engineer? WOwW! must be a hard thing to do!
I am studying drafting nowadays and I tell you it is very hard for me to do this thing...really!
I bet you are very good with it, huh?
Guess I would like you to be my tutor in case...

Haha, yeah you are not complaining, you are just ranting!
(wonder if it's the same though...) LOL
I can see by the sound of it, looks really tiring.
Travelling to and from work can really be tiring specially if it takes too many hours.
Well, it's good that isn't difficult. At least, there's a balance there...
Oh, okay...Haven't heard about tribon before.
Thanks for the info. You don't need to explain either cause I may find it hard to understand such things more...
Thanks for sharing your thoughts anyways...Have a safe trip always!

Why am I complaining??
I was just ranting on my travel to and from work. Haha! Just kidding. But seriously, I am really lucky to have a job. I know as they say online job isn't a stable job so I should love my offline job.
I am working in Subic, somewhere in Zambales. You can go to work by land but when you're residing in Olongapo, a ferry is prepared for you. From Olongapo, I can travel by land too but it's a 3 ride. Tricycle-jeep-bus and will take more than an hour and another bus from main gate going to the main office. Really tiring!
The work isn't diffucult but the travel I might say is VERY hard.
Maybe I can't teach you, I know you're using AutoCAD, right? We are using a different software, TRIBON. I want to learn AutoCAD too but my tutor (my fiancé) is lazy. They differ in some aspects, tribon is like programming because you make the structure by using schemes. Oh, it's hard to explain.
So, there, I have no more emoticons to use. =)
Have a nice day.

The way i see your work, it's indeed some kind of boring that's why you feel that way already. Imagine having to travel long just to be able to get to your workplace. That alone makes it already a tiring one.
I am happy that i have a wonderful job, my friend. It allows me to work at my own pace. It also allows me to go around the mall to see if the stores are doing good. It allows me socialize, when i have to entertain consultants of our company and the boss isn't around to do it.
Most of all, i love it because i have a kind , understanding and lovable boss. But then maybe because she has a good employee in me too.

Us too in our company. We don't have big salaries, but we enjoy working for the company.
That's because we are like one big family in the office. Our general manager is kind and generous so we stay on our jobs. Besides, we enjoy our jobs.
It's a good thing that we are just in the province. So commuting to our offices is easy and doesn't take long.
So maybe you should start scouting for a job that would really be just near your residence, so it won't tire you.
Good luck my friend!

That's good to hear.
I work for a Korean company but I think what's bringin us down is our own Filipino admins. They don't like us to have big salaries and they control the minds of the Korean boss. Here in our office, our boss is kind too. But you can never remove that tiredness in transportation.
If ever I will leave this company, I wiant to be abroad.

Wow, I envy you for that.
I see that you really have a wonderful job. Unlike me, just seating here the whole day. Then one time, I read in a powerpoint presentation, "Sitting can kill you".
And you know what's more tiring here? Well, the salary isn't that BIG. I can't even sustain my mothers needs for God's sake.

Oh dear adnileb
Me and wifey were discussing something similar today - the monotonous living that we are forced to get into and live with it for a majority of of time. Definitely such a life is tiring and that is why we have festivals. That reminds me that your festival too is nearing and I am sure you will have your plans ready. Break free and enjoy the best you can during these vacation times. I am sure they would help you rejuvenate and you would feel fresh like a morning bird once you arrive back at work

the mardi gras will start later at night. There are some musical bands who will perform and some roads are closed for the bazaar and other stuffs. We might go there later as we will really pass by there when going home.
And tomorrow, it's holiday!
Feast of the Sacrifice for our dear Muslim friends and it's declared holiday here in our country. We will go shopping for Christmas gifts tomorrow.

Wow for five years., I have not stuck to a job for so long. What to do we can't help it though. The bad part it that the long route is tiring. I have my Dad who has been working in the same company all his life and now next year he is going to be 55 and retiring. I can imagine how he managed to stick to that job...My poor dady ya. I will do good for him soon., I want to give him everything he deserves. anyway I hope you could come up with something better where you do not have to travel so far. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

Yes, 5 years next month (12th).
I stayed here for the experience I can get. Since I want to work abroad when I resign here. And as a requirement, they want a staff who has a 5 years or more experience. So I am almost there. I will leave this company whenever chances are available for me. Wish me luck!
Thanks!

Oh... I know what your going thru. It's not easy, I know your having a work fatigue or something. If you do it over and over again and your not happy anymore is really a big problem, co's tendency is you lost enthusiasm over your work and you will be less productive.
I work as a community youth worker (a non government organization). After college I work full time at my church and does things over and over again (a little bit exaggerating here) not over and over again though. But it seems that I am awake from dawn to midnight and sleep is quite just a dream.
So I said to my church leaders that I will resign when I get married... and indeed I resigned. So after my wedding I have no work anymore and so I slept most of the time as if I haven't done that for a long time. hahaha. You know happen to me?... I got bigger and bigger... and now that is my problem already co's i don't know how to go back to my old slimmer body. :))
I hope that you will find excitement with your work again or find a work that will excite you and give you good pay. :)) happy mylotting :)

Awake from dawn till midnight? Wow, that's a long work hours.
Anyways, did you enjoy your work before? Are you happy after you got married?
I think the result of having no work is predictable. Having not enough sleep for a long time makes you sleep for many hours. Before, when I stopped working, all I do is, sleep-eat-sleep-eat. That is for eight months. Though I am already 'chubby' before, I never gained weight. But since my thyroid malfunctioned seriously, I gained 8 kilos without me eating so heavily. That's a true depression.
Do some exercise so will slim down again.
So you have your work now?
Hope so that I would find that excitement in my work.
Thanks!

As I was reading your post I also felt tired. It was as if I was doing that travel with you which sounds really tiring. Considering the fact that you do it every day, I can't really blame you if you really feel tired. Working to earn money does involve lots of sacrifice to many people like you and me.
Indeed I understand you fully well. I also experienced same kind of difficulty when I was working. I was commuting daily from home to office and vice versa. That was really tiring but I had no choice because I could not quit working yet. For more than twenty years I was so tired of this routine. just to work. I was only commuting by bus. What was killing me then was the traffic jam. It was so bad that the could have been one hour travel sometimes extends up to two hours or more. Well finally now I am retired. I decided to have early retirement because I felt there is no need for me to work that hard anymore. It was a big relief! There is nothing like owning your time and spending it the way you want it. I am truly enjoying my life now.

Sorry to make you feel tired of my post.
But thanks to understanding me.
It was really hard for everyday. And glad you are retired now, at least you can do everything in your own time. As for me, I am only 27, don't have enough savings for the future. I still have to endure a long way before my retirement age. Hope to enjoy my life soon.

It is understandable that you're finding it hard to go to work every day, because it sounds as though it is very tough. Is there any way that you can change your hours so that you have an extra day off per week, or at least get to go in later on one of your days? If you could then I am sure that this would help you. Or if you had a chat to your boss and tried to make it so that you could have a little bit more rest time in the middle of the day, this might help for you to feel a bit better at the end of the working day.

There's no other way to change time of work. I would love to suggest adding an hour everyday until friday so there will be no work on Saturdays but I know they won't accept it. I am in a huge company and mostly are divided into subcontractors.
I can have a rest tomorrow, it's holiday and back again to work on Saturday. Then rest again on Sunday. Oh, our department will be having a swimming on Sunday so I'm gonna flush out those stress away. I don't know how to swim though.

i agree. commuting to and from work is the most tiring part of having a job for most people. even if your workplace is nearby, having to pass through the same things almost everyday will take its toll.
maybe the job will seem easier if you are compensated well enough.

i understand your feeling, well, it is the same problem for many workers and we should find out the way to live with it because of earning money. We may do something new to refresh out mind/body and get more energy for working.
Try to take a short vacation when you are too tired with your current work..then you can enjoy your time a bit and then go back your work.

Oh, short vacation will come my way on December since there are so many holidays. But after that, same thing will be done over and over again.
Anyways, it's right that we need a little vacation for ourselves and next year, I will plan a vacation maybe quarterly to freshen up.
Thanks!

If only we can plant money, then we will have something to harvest. At least it's a little acceptable to work hard on harvesting.
But it's not the case so we really need to do something to make a living.
Knowing there are lots people that gets tired of working too, makes me feel a lot lighter now. I am not alone.
thanks!

Hi adnileb! If you are tired of doing the same thing over and over again, then you should do it in a different way. Like when you went to the office and sit the whole day, perhaps you can do it while singing or dancing. This way you are doing the same thing with a twist! "Just for a change," my daughter would always tell me. Okay, I am just kidding.
There will really comes a time that we will get bored already with our job. But just think of the consequences just in case you don't have a job. There is just two suggestions I could offer. First is to change your job and second is to change your attitude towards it. Be positive always.

I am trying to be always positive and it's really hard.
No matter how positive you are, you really can't stop thinking about the negative things that's happening. Doing things over and over is so boring. But I wander why I don't get bored here. Maybe because I get to encounter different stories everyday that makes me comment different things too. Just wish my workplace is nearer so I won't be this tired.
Thanks for the suggestion, I wanted to do that but I am shy.

There are really days that the repetitive schedule of our day to day work gets to our nerves. Every job, every work have its own downside. But we have to remember that there are bills to pay and necessities to fulfill and some dreams to save up for. If you think you don't want to be there anymore, you can quit but don't quit without making sure that there's another job already waiting for you.

I have to power up my patience everyday so I won't get tired.
If I quit here, I want to work abroad. Working there gives me higher salary so I think I won't get tired that much if I have high salary waiting for me every payday.
For now, I have to be here or else I have nothing.
Thanks for your advice.
Much appreciated.

I think your just one of the hundreds, maybe thousands, maybe millions or billions who feel the same way as you are. the only difference is the motivation given to each of us. and the inspiration that we have.

Nothing motivates us here at work.
Even the compensation is not that inspirational.
The only reason I stayed is because of the experience I will acquire. Then if I have a chance, I will leave the country for more advancement. Maybe there, salary is higher and thus will give me enough motivation to work.

Well, I understand what you meaing. And I think most people have the same feelings: either tired of the humdrum work or long distance between home to office. But we can't afford to living without a job. We must bring bacon to our home. So I think the only way is to find some time to enjoy relax yourself after a period of hard work. Quality time with family members or friends can let us refreshed and then we can turn back to our works again.

That's a good option. Hanging out after work so we can forget the stress from working. Having it once in a while can loosen up our minds and be relaxed. You are right that we really need to work for our living and we should learn to appreciate our work. I guess I am really tired these days so I am thinking so nonsense about my work.
Thanks!

I felt the same too, its like we must be lucky to have a job than those who have difficulty finding a new and good paying job. Though sometimes we become so tired specially if were doing the same routine everyday and we become so stress so probably thats why they have sick and vacation leave and thats i normally do from time to time.

So you feel it too?
We have to be thankful for the job and yes you're right that doing it everyday is so tiring. I wish to take a leave for a week but it will be deducted on my salary. I will then be short of budget for next month that's why I have no choice but to have more patience.

your job title "ship design engineer" sounds quite interesting, its a shame you find it boring.
five years is a long time in a job, though, so the answer i think would be to try and find another one that you think would be more interesting, and the travel easier.

Its really tiring doing the same routine everyday as you go to work.. As you start your day going to the office, you already tired, sweat, huggard because even you left at home early, but the unpredictable traffic during rush hours is really annoying and sometimes your alloted time to travel consumed so much by it.. That though you avoid not to arrived late, its still happened. But when you arrived at the office after all those experiences, It seems like you'll suddenly felt relaxed and stress free.. hayz! Tiring as we may considered a repeatitive routine is only a test of our patience which enable us to enhance more of ourselves in anyway we can..

I like the last part that you said, "Tiring as we may considered a repeatitive routine is only a test of our patience which enable us to enhance more of ourselves in anyway we can.. "
Everyday I have been renewing my patience so the next day I will have a new set of patience.
I don't experience traffic going to work because we are riding a ferry, so we travel by sea and there's no traffic. You are kinda right that when we arrive in the office we tend to be relaxed. Like here, iy=t's air conditioned so the added stress for outside hea is removed.

Jobs do indeed tend to get repetitive, but I think of people around the world who don't even have the opportunity to get educated let alone apply for a job with an alright wage/salary. Viewing things in perspective to other people and their situation really does help to keep your own life in check, a little appreciation and gratitude never hurts. I have three jobs and post graduate studies on top of this, it gets repetitive and tiresome that's for sure, no sugar coating here. But it pays the bills and provides for me and my family. I know others even in my own country that would kill to have my job(s) or to be in my shoes. The world isn't exactly experiencing a financial epoch or 'grace', so being grateful with what one has often is a catalyst for what one appreciates as well.

Yes, I sometimes do appreciate having my job. Like I am thinking the other people just begging for food, I am stating to appreciate my job more. But you can never remove that's it's too tiring to do same things over and over again. Good for you that you have three jobs, at least you have a variety of works everyday.
Thinking that thousands of people are jobless, I become motivated. But thinking that to myself everyday makes me a fool sometimes. I won't have the money I have right now if it weren't for my job so I should stop complaining.
