A lady at work let's her cat in and out of her houe, she live in town. Now many don't appreciate someone's cat roaming and pooping on their property. A few of this ladies neighbours complained, she ignored them (she had I believe 4 cat all outide roaming). The other day they all went missing, and havent come back. There have been cases of poisoning animals in the area. I can ee both sides, as my nieghbours let their cats in and out all the time. The neighbours across the street kept topping me saying your cats sh*tting on our lawn. I explained all mmine are indoor cats. I just think it shows how irresponsible of a pet owner you are and disrespectful you are. I wouldnt like others animals roaming on my property and craping everywhere.

Im not, I have one little dog. And she does everything with me like my kid. She even sleeps in my bed with me. She eats with, even follows me to the bathroom.

My cats are the same, I couldnt imagine letting them out unattended. I know my neighbours dont care about their animals, and will simple replace them.

I agree with you. If a person wants a pet, the person must take care of it. There is a cat in my neighborhood that lives more in my mom`s garden and in mine than at its ownwer`s house. My mom, loving her plants and very old, often says that she`d poison it if she could. I don`t know if it`s just a way of venting her wrath as it`s difficult for an 88 year old lady to clean cat`s poop out of her garden. She surely will not do it, but if the cat was not there, she would not even think of it.

Exactly, and many who are capable do do it. It's sad, but I can see how annoying it is having a pest around, and all over your lawn. Also, if you already tell the neighbour about it it would be even more frustrating.

I am not an irresponsible pet owner, and I would never get an animal if I didn't think that I would be able to look after it properly. I don't understand why people do so, because their animals are dependent on them for the whole of their lives and there is no way that they would be able to look after themselves. If you see anybody who is being cruel to an animal then it is vital that you choose to report them because if you don't then there is a chance that these poor animals are going to be hurt for a long time.

I completely agree, many simple throw them outside, or give them away. Animals are for life, and those who simple give them away when they get tired of them I dont even associate with.

If you are to say that allowing the cats out of the house is being an irresponsible pet owner, then I guess I would have to say that I am an irresponsible pet owner because two of my three cats are allowed in and out of the house. However, they are always on our property unless the kids are outside and then they will follow the kids up and down the street. However, it has helped our house out to allow the cats to go outside to use the bathroom and it has also helped to keep mice out of our house.

I don't think so. Because I used to take good care of our dogs very well. :)

Totally agree with you! There are many stray cats in our neighborhood and no one cares too much about it. The thing is about cats they carry diseases that spread to other animals and they overpopulate the area. When calling animal control where we live at, it doesn't do any good. Yet there are all these cats that are starving and digging through garbage dumpsters. Granted, I'm a dog lover, but cat owners should have the same responsibility of cleaning up after a cat as a dog owner has to pick up after a dog.

I agree completely, our shelters are completely full in our area and people continue to drop off and abdonded more aniimals. My 3 cats were in this category as well (2 were abdonded in my workplace, and 1 I adopted from the local shelter). Sadly, it's many of those owners who dont get their animals fixed, or keep track of them are where these cats come from.

I am. My three pet dogs are inside our fenced in-yard so they are safe and other people can be safe too. If you get bitten by one of them, that means to say you are trying to get inside our place. So, back off 'coz I have dogs that will attack anyone who will come near our place.

Hi ricki! In as much as I wanted to have my own pet, but since my work won't permit me to do it, I never got a pet aside from our dog. I am assigned in another place and most of the time, nobody is left at home. Our dog that has been with us since 2006 is the only pet we have. I also love to own a bird but I'm afraid I could not take care of it so I am setting aside the plan. Maybe when the time comes that I will be more successful online and will just be staying at home.

I think, I'm not a irresponsible dog and cat owner. It appears that I cater to the needs of my pet, from his daily food, hygiene and also, regular checkup is being observed by me. If not, my wife handles it. I'm doing my best to treat them as good as expected. I feel bad about reading the discussion because animals are like humans too. I hope they can do something here to check on the status of those pets. Thanks
