I don't know if that can be a norm to use to predict a particular group of persons behavior or not, but I knew a lot of marketers would use it to target their potential customers. In recent report, as the presidential election is closed by, they also use data mining to target particular group of people to get their votes. Like some people who are churchgoers are more likely GOP voters; Some people who drive a particular brand of cars, like Toyota or Lexus are Democratic. More and more of these data are getting complicated, and can these data be used to predict a person's behavior? Also data mining show some people drink a particular beers also likely to vote or not. What do you think of that?

I don't think we can use it to predict a person's behaviour precisely. The result may be misleading.

Hi, That's the purpose of research in business. It is actually a subject in some business course and dissertations has been written to prove buying trends, income, age, demography and other factors do affect market forces and can be manipulated to one's advantage. It is on the realm of business and political science, the knowledge may be useful to those who know how to wield it.

Yes, they are using all types of techniques to figure out what a person or group will reaction to. They're using face recognition and data mining and other methods combined to see how accurate they can predict what a person or group will do. It's no longer sci-fi, welcome to the 21st century.

I think you do have a point in this and we dont even realize it. Thi method can be used for many things for business, and selling particular items.

I presume data mining can but not today maybe in the near future. This sort of things are still in its development stages. And as such I don't believe that they can attain even a 90% accuracy as human behavior is not that predictable. Cheers and Happy mylotting!
