Hello everybody, I need to convert many pdf files to Excel spreadsheets. I used to convert them with a free program, but the free version expired a few weeks ago. I know there are lots of programs - even freeware - to convert pdf-s but I need to know if you tested any of them and if you'd recommend one or another. (I've just downloaded one of the free versions from the first page given by Google and it wasn't good at all) Please recommend me a free converter pdf to xls. Thank you!

I never use PDF converters because I have a copy of Adobe Acrobat, from which I can export the files in HTML format. HTML than then be imported in Excel, thus eliminating any need for third party conversion software. Your best option is to simply test a few different converters and decide which one suits you, which often may not be the same program as other users prefer.

It didn't work. I tried to save the pdf files to html documents but they were difficult to convert into xls files. I would have got a better result if I had copied column by column from the pdf directly into the xls file. If you succeded to convert a pdf into xls using html, please give me some details.

Have you tried online converters ? Many are offering good conversions for free. My preferred is zamzar, that I use since several years : http://www.zamzar.com/conversionTypes.php As you see, quite all sort of conversions are supported, included pdf to xls .

Thank you for your advice. Unfortunately I can't use an online converter, because the files I need to convert are confidential. I'm talking about files from the office, where I have lots of personal data of the ... let's call them "clients". Have you any idea about a converter that doesn't work online?

You can use Adobe Acrobat X Pro, it has an option to save your pdf to xls file. But this is not free software. Hope this help. Have a nice day!

Well, I'm talking about files from the office. I don't think anybody would pay from his own pocket to solve some office problems. That's why I need some free stuff. I am sure there are some, but I got tired of trying and I was hoping somebody knows a good free program that is not online.
