why does ptc pay one tenth of a cent

is ptc not really valued on the internet? I wonder why they pay one tenth of a cent i.e 0.001 for each task or offer? I have to click about one thousand sites in order to earn even one dollar! That is quite gigantic. It seems the rationale behind PTC work makes it menial to the average online worker.
