Few days before when I was traveling in train a police caught a person and demanding 200 rs. he asking why then police man said you are smoking in train and through the cigratte in toilet. He said ohhh God sir cigrette was already there I not take this only I was going for toilet. Other man can stroke this police man not ready to heard him he replied paid the money or came with me in police station. He afraid because the poor and simple man. He paid money but said I paid 200 rs. only for toilet and my mistake is I go there.
Why people not satisfied with their payment always find the new source to earn the money and capture the poor and innocent people. Most of the passengers knows he not take cigarette but nobody says to police.

Yes,it is a regular scene in rails because many policemen demand money from the poor man because they knew nothing and innocent. Had it been a bigwig ,policemen keep moving without asking anything even they murder anyone.

Its unfair to him, why nobody tell the police that? I guess everybody were afraid. The police should be terminated. Over using power.

This is also happening here in our country sis and I guess in other countries as well.
Policemen or uniformed men uses their power to earn money in wrong ways and pity are the innocent victims especially the poor ones.

This is insane thing and such things happen only in India. Legally, the law is No Smoking in public places. Toilets are not personal and exempt. The only problem with this guy was he did not know the law and even if he did, he could do nothing as he was travelling. However, if he had legally asked for a Note of Fine Paid, the policeman could have been taken to the legal court and maybe suspended too.
The above might not be known to many but Indian Law only states - No Smoking in public Places and Toilets are NOT public places as long as you are using them. So you are free to do whatever you want - even if they are on public trains. Consult a lawyer specially the ones who are safeguarding the smokers and they will tell you that there was a PIL moved in the Supreme Court when this Public Smoking was just made a law

Why you forget we live in a country where 99.9% of the politicians are corrupt, the police, the excise dept people, tte's in trains have to give some share to them out of bribe etc..
You know during my journey to Hyderabad I saw the Conductor and one guard smoking in the corridor of the ac compartment, so i took a photo with my mobile phone..
The conductor offered me 5000 to delete it

Well, i really think this is fairly the same in all countries. Good job on you taking the picture and make some extra cash there. But this corrupt thing is getting bad, i wouldn't be surprise if one day we would be back on the uncivilized life where people kill for entertainment, child being abused and no one care, and your life is your money.

Personally I think the reason no one wanted to say anything was they were afraid to get themselves in trouble, and not really cared about the other person, especially if he was dressed differently, or knew he was poorer. Many times people are not wanting to get involved in other people's business even if they know someone is innocent. To many times they never think about what if it was them? But glad there was someone there willing to help him out.

Many people are afraid of the police. That is quite unjust.. But no one stands up for what is right.
Similar stuff happen here too. When drivers here violate a law and the police catches them, they sometimes ask for money so they won't report the driver.

hi di,
This is so common, the police also want extra money which they can use for festivals and all, especially as it is festivals season in India, haha. The other day one of my cousin booked his ticket from Hyderabad to our city in Guwahati express. The bogi was so rush the people there didn't give him his seat , in spite of having reservation. The Tc also didn't help him ,and there are some four five more people who faced the same problem. So finally what they did was, they go down the train in some station in between ,gave a complaint in the station ,and then went to bus stop, they were able to get seats , so finally came in bus. His money is wasted for train ticket as he left the train in between and the ticket is also not cancelled. In the station as it was mid night ,no body was there to take the complaint. One man sent them to other , and the second man to the third . Finally they gave the complaint. No body was showing the responsibility , every one just want money but without work.

Some police constables are like these. Most of us want to avoid being caught by police and thus he took that opportunity and asked for money from an innocent person. Such cases can only be avoided if general public revolts unanimously but that happens very rarely.
