How did you get referrals?

One of the best way to increase our earning here with less effort is finding referrals. When I joined here few days ago, I set high goals for myself. Not that I wanted to earn very big here. But I just wanted to develop my attitude in setting goals. And in the past few days, I have tried various ways on how to increase my earnings here. And so far, I am quite happy with the results of my effort. But I am still far from what I wanted to be. I keep on thinking of ways to increase my earnings.
And few hours ago, I just thought that maybe I should allot time in looking for referrals here so that my earnings will increase. I have some ideas right now on how to get referrals. But I just wanted to hear your opinions on how to find referrals here. Not just finding referrals who will just join and be inactive after a few days. I wanted to find active referrals.
And I know many of you have active referrals. I just wanted to hear your stories on how did you find active referrals and I am very much delighted if you share me ideas and advice on how to get referrals.

Actually, the only referral i have was my brother. i had him join the site and sadly, he wasn't able to log in after 2 weeks of being active :(
You can try asking your friends or family member to join under your referral or you can try posting your referral link on some websites or forum posting sites as well.

Well I'm just a bit shy to ask my family members and my friends to join this site. I might as well find people from online forums. Hopefully it works

That would be very hard. Finding active referrals is so difficult, but one thing I know to get many referrals is create a blog and put in on social bookmarking sites. Still even though some would join, we're not sure if they're going to be active or not.
Drive traffic to the blog created and maybe some will join and some will become active and some will stay remain inactive. Well, I think creating a blog and put in on social bookmarking site will help.
