The Singing Dog???

When my dog was just about four or five months old, I discovered that he is singing along with the sound of an ice cream cart roaming around our neighborhood. At first, I was shocked to hear him sing his lungs out. In our country, the howling of dogs means something bad. But since I realized that he is singing along with the tune, I told my neighbors about it so they will not be terrified. Why do you think my dog acts that way? I'm still wondering about it until now.

hello friend, I can understand this, because i have seen such dogs who try to go with the song or the whistle. There is a security guard near my house, who comes for a visit, he check around and he has this whistle to make the sound, now the dogs near my house ,whistle along with him ,this happens near my house every day. yes ,in our country too "Howling of dogs" got the same meaning. have a good day

My wife's first dog used to sing with her when she was playing harmonica. It wasn't a howl sound, it was really a singing voice. She used to have different tonalities for different songs. In fact, I think the noise was not something she liked, so she was rather complaining about it.

I think it depends on what the sound is, what the dog is accustomed to hearing, how it makes them feel physically and if they like it or not. In my country, dogs' sounds are responded to differently in different places. In the city, a dog barking too much can get a ticket. Otherwise, they might simply howl because the sirens on emergency vehicles hurt their ears and they need to relieve the pressure. In the country, there are seldom sirens, so they only make sounds if it's their usual dinner time or if another animal or human is near as a greeting or alert. I have a quiet dog who, when we lived in the city, only growled once or twice to let me know someone dangerous was outside. In the country, she only growls and barks in her sleep, which is cute.

Maybe he is just like a kid.. following the sounds he usually hears.. It is funny and cute.. Like a parrot, following what the people around him are saying. Dogs can't mimic sounds well though.

Yeah, I know right! If only I could post videos of my dog here. lol. You can really hear hos background music there. I guess it's due to the frequency of sound or whatever. Good to know that you're a dog lover too! :)

Hello friend, Let me start from telling you that i don't believe that your dog were singing. I simply believe that it is just reacting to the sound that it hears. If you will ask me whether the reaction is good or not? I simply do not know the answer.. But I do appreciate what you did, telling your neighbors that your dog is singing. For the reason that it will help your neighbors to accept the noise/song your dog is making. But opinions are opinions so believe what you must.. thank you;)
