a fellow Mylotter who seems to think questions are discussions. I just deleted about seven of this person's discussions because I knew these questions would be deleted by Admin. and anything I wrote would be a waste of my time. So what are you thoughts my Mylot friend? Does anyone else find this to be true. What a waste. And all they have to do is discuss the subject alittle bit and then ask us a question or two and away we go. But can they do that? I wonder what the problem is. And one of those that rarely answers your responses anyway. Just one more thing that irritates me. Your thoughts.

This can be rather annoying, and sadly also something that we have seen many times in the past. I assume that the people who issue a myriad of brief and abstract questions as discussions are under the misapprehension that this is an easy way to make money here. They seem to think that if they post a quick discussion and run away then lots of members will respond and boost their activity.
We both know that the only way to make progress is to create and maintain interesting discussions and also make worthwhile responses. This is also the only way to enjoy your time at Mylot, rather than allow it to become a chore.
Members trying this futile approach tend to either learn the hard way and start to conform, or simply give up and leave.

Yes, many times in the past and mostly by the same people. They must be getting what they want or they would find something different to do. I refused to answer one for awhile but there were so few to chose from I had to go back to responding to them again. Which is frustrating in itself. They don't seem like conforming type people to me. Ugh! Conform to their own ways is about it.

I don't enjoy mylot like i use to. One thing some folks will make a dozen discussions trying to make more money i guess & if they don't know by now they are not going to get rich on mylot no matter how many siully discussions they write.YES, i said silly. It use to be a place where i enjoyed, enjoyed the duscussions etc. It is not that way anymore. Some of the stuff people write is just ridiculous & a waste of my time & thier time to. I delete more than i answer anymore.

I am so with you on this. I just deleted like seven. There is another person on here that has been here along time and does this. I used to just delete this person's discussion and not answer them for along time because I was getting tired of responding but never getting a response back. Half the fun is getting a response back from the original discussion poster. They sure don't use their imagination do they? And my life just isn't that exciting to have so many discussions.

i to have times i dont enjoy it the way we used to because of the repeats of silly questions. some newer people need to back up and really think if they really want to know something about someone or if others have the same problems then just to ask what color they like we are not perspective lovers or partners.

i agree its so annoying , i always see that i respond back to my discussion s, and if i am not able to do so in a day or two, then i try to respond to them first, as much as possible.
But i dont know that ,they delete the discussions like this. In one way its right. still i have to give some responses which i am not able to do due to lack of time, but i decided i wont start any discussions until i finish it first.

If you received the notifiers from this user then they were on your friend list. Did youinform them that just asking a question is not substance for a discussion?
Too many recently seem unaware of the true defintion of "discussion" sadly

I have told the newbie but the other one has been here for years, is rather popular and I don't really want to go there with that one.

You can always turn notifications off. I`ve done it. They spam my mail Just this week I did that with a friend that writes maybe 20 or so discussions(?) a day. I lost an answer from a friend out of town who will have me next weekend. THAT was the last straw!

oh gosh I have not looked in my email today yes as I was working on my own discussion and commenting back. I have seen this same person and he or she does not ever comment back. so yeah I also delete them having been taken once by the person. somehow a lot of mylotters do not even intend to comment back.that really
infuriates me. I bust my carpal tunnel right hand to keep up my discussions at 85 and these young people cannot even comment back on the responses they get. soon they will not be getting any then will whine."nobody is responding to me" well g ee its not a whole lot of fun responding to someone who is not going to keep
up the discussion at all.I still think someone is telling gullible newcomers that oh yah just make a lot of mylot discussions and you will get rich cause you get paid for all those responses. IT IS NOT TRUE FOLKS YOU DO NOT GET PAID FOR THE RESPONSES YOU GET TO YOUR DISCUSSIONS. MAKE 50 AND YOU STILL WILL NOT MAKE A LOT IF YOU DO NOT COMMENT BACK.

I guess they just figure if they make and post enough discussions it will make up for not responding to the ones they already have. It sure is a wonderment. Makes no sense.

iam in complete wonderment of that myself. obviously they dont care if everyone just quits responding on their discussions, or commenting i should say. theres times i go several days without getting back to my discussion but i do eventually. sometimes i think they just make sooooooo many they cant respond back

Well there are a lot of people here who do tend to start a lot of discussions in a day and some never take time to respond back. I just tend to pass up a lot of these as well, and really think they need to be one two way street in here more.

There are several styles of discussions that bother me. I dislike lectures and sermons, actually, oh, and sports reports. I just answer what I can and what seems profitable to me. If I think they will be deleted, I do not answer them. I sometimes have a hard time finding enough things that engage me and make me want to respond.

I am a Christian, and I have a good understanding of the Bible. So explaining that to me is pointless. On the other hand there are people who ask opinions about different Bible passages, and that is not annoying. It can make a good discussion. However, it is not just Christians who are offering religious lectures and sermons, and basically I skip them all. I guess I just think of MyLot as my recreation.

Me too GG! The lecturers that think they know it all and can't wait to make it known. I so dislike sermons being a agnostic. I find it hard to find things that engage me too. Maybe we should double up on some good ones of our own. Then the others can make discussions til the cows come home and no one would care.

Apparently, many are misled by the fact that posting numerous discussions will help them earn more money. On a personal note, referrers are the people to blame, and here's why:
1. Referrers try to make more money by mass-inviting people stating that if they join, they earn per post!
2. Many blog posts have their MyLot banners on, trying to engage people to keep posting discussions, and they'll earn instant money.
I am not saying that this is what most people do, but the majority does - based on my observations. Earlier, I just read a blog post that talks about how she earned money on MyLot, and it was even stated in the blog post that they'll earn $0.50 per post! Now, who wouldn't be engaged to sign up and post as many discussions as they could?
I think that this community would be better if people referring other members to this site would explain that this is a great place to discuss thoughts, opinions and a unique way to interact with others, and that they'll get paid for creating an engaging and a continuous flow of discussion, and that these referrers should clearly state that the quantity of posts wouldn't make them rich overnight.
Honestly, I liked this community before than today. I've found a lot of people who are trying to spam the hell out of this site, and in the end, they'll complain about not earning LOL

Likewise. I've given up referring.. Actually, I was one of these people who was referred by someone 6 years ago. I saw it from one of these forums, and when I messaged that person, I was told that I'd be paid per post, and so I signed up! So I posted as many noob questions I could think of. You can see that I was a member here 6 years ago, but only gets active once in a while because of work.. And lol when I was reading the discussions I've started, I was embarrassed! Maybe not everyone has experienced this, or maybe there are some other people who have different points of view on how the "system" here in MyLot works..

Per post? I see. But what about the people that have been here for years? Majority does this? Hmmm. I don't know of these. I know of alot of older folks who like to come on here to converse with others and make alittle money. I don't agree with all this other stuff. Maybe some foreigners would do this major discussion thing. I gave up on trying to refer anyone long ago.

I wish I could remember where I came to know of Mylot. My first discussions were sort of silly too. I think had one deleted back then. I hope that I see your discussions on more. I bet you have some interesting ideas.

you are right. all this bugs me also. usually i delete the person from friends. my biggest problem lately with a friend i have is making so many discussions a day about their every move and thought. for pete sakes, how about they could just add to what they already started? i mean if you went shopping and bought so and so for dinner. dont make a discussion after about how it turned out put that on a reply to your friends in the first discussion so your friends know you are reading them at least and you care. so yes celtic it bothers me also.

I think we should boycott their discussions. I know about one that is making so many discussions a day about their every move and thought. It is a wonder they don't let us in on their movements too if you know what I mean. I am thinking of deleting this person but the member has been here so long and seems to have a following so I doubt it will make any difference.

i have deleted that person a couple times then turn around and accept them again because they have one part of their life i am interested in what happens and can always identify with. so i do have something i can respond to with them nearly every day. its just the other crap that annoys me

I have answered a ton of discussions that have been deleted. I did know, sometimes, that there was a risk, but I did it because I wanted to be active and, like you said, maybe they would have some input on something I started too sometimes. The worst is when they have a great topic and then leaves it without discussing! I have went back to topics that I was really intrigued by to see how they responded to my response...nothing.

I know and it is surely frustrating. I think we should boycott those we know won't reply to us. It is either be deleted or not replied to. I ignore them.

Hi Celtic,
I don't start discussions unless I can come up with a topic that is different and original. I appreciate it when people take the time to think about and respond to discussions that I have started. Last but not least, I always try my best to comment on every response that I receive in every discussion that I start.
I hope you are doing well. Have a nice evening!

Thamk you, MandaLee. What you have listed is why I was so bummed when you said a while back that you might be leaving Mylot. There are just too few people that really have very interesting discussions. We don't need to lose them.

yes. you said the right one. last week i too met a mylotter. he was simply asking which is your favorite flower? favorite music? favorite colour/? etc. simple questions. so i too responded like the same way. 2 days later, mylot deleted his question and my answer too as well as a small amount as a fine

That was not 'a fine'.
Just like anything you do offline that is not done properly, you will not be rewarded for it. What you saw was a reduction in your earnings because myLot removed the earnings produced by the deleted posts. We are not paid for deleted posts.

These type of posts irritate me too. You have to read the mylot rules before you start posting and it clearly says nothing that is like a question or poll or it will be deleted. I myself do not respond to these type of discussions because it's not only a waste of your time its theirs too because it'll just be deleted. I wish there were more interesting discussions to respond too, there hasn't been much lately.

Yes, it does say that. I am glad you don't respond to these type of discussions. It is just such a waste of time. I see them all the time and they load up my email box so I think I am really going to have a good pay out day and then I see all those questions. Ugh!
