My friend... who is a leader of a certain group of our mission organization got scammed by someone on her group.
My friend was leading a group going to Thailand a for an annual conference there. Then this lady asked my friend if she could do the booking for their flight. So since the lady has been in the group for a year my friend said yes.
So my friend told the group to remit their money to this lady. She'd been collecting the money without giving out receipts and told the group that their tickets are already in the process and soon they will be getting their itineraries, and so they all trust their going.
Then the set date for them to go came and that was the other day. They will all set to go to the airport and they're waiting for this lady to show up to give them their tickets, and since she was late, the group decided to inquire of the flight and the said carrier. To their surprise and dismay... there's no such flight schedule.
The flight that was said to them was all fake. Then this lady showed up finally and told them that the airlines canceled their flight and the money won't be refunded till the end of November. Of course my friend demanded now of receipts and proof of payment and even asked to bring her to the booking agency. But the lady told them that they cannot go co's it's prohibited and it's only her allowed.
Goodness. She got more than a hundred thousand money involved there, co's she demanded for a 6000pesos for every person for the plane ticket and there was like 25-30 persons to register to this trip and now there still here and the saddest part of that is they don't know for sure if their money can still be refunded.
Just to think of the hassle this lady gives....not mentioning that the group had already book a room in one of the hotel in Bangkok. agghh!
I supposed to be part of the going group together with hubby and my baby, and for some reason I cancelled it. then now... this thing happens.

Now you know. hahahaha. The storm signal cannot hinder them from going to Thailand if they only have the plane tickets with them. hahahaha. No matter how sunny it is here in the Phils if they don't have that ticket, they won't even get inside the departure area. hahaha
I would never knew about if no one would not tell me. A friend called me in the middle of the night telling me about their situation. Another friend had even said goodbye Phils and friends of facebook, and said welcome Bangkok I think. So all I thought was they're on their way to Thailand.
Anyway, I saw the at church yesterday and my friend seems doing good and she said.. "all things works together for good to those who love the Lord". Of course I know that God has a reason why He allows things to happen.
I hope I'll able to go the next time they plans a trip. :))

It would be good if the authorities take some legal action against that lady. That's not a small amount. she should be taught a lesson. How can she do like that, that do after being with the group for so many months. Really we cannot estimate people , by their face.
Thank God you were lucky.

No one took any legal actions, my friend still believes the promise given by that person that took their money that she will do whatever she said that she'll do about the money that was given to here.
If I were them though, I would demand my money back the soonest possible. Oh, she took hundred and forty thousand I think. And now she has the nerve to still promise things. I don't know if I could still trust her, it would probably take a lot of effort on her side to get my trust again.
Definitely, those people don't have much money. They were pastors and most pastors here in the Philippines gets the low allowance. Just think how much faith they put in to raise that amount and dream to be able to get out of the country, but then this lady just took all their dreams away from them. :((
So sad!

You're lucky to have been spared from this trouble. You can actually file a report against that person if she is not capable of producing documents to support the tickets which she supposedly bought. You will never know when she would be flying out of the country with the amount of money she has taken.
I feel so sorry for the people who expected that they were about to have the trip.

yup, hubby's nose would be oozing mad. I actually don't know what would I do if i was part of those that's been victimized by this lady. I don't know what I would say with her. Or probably it won't happen because for sure we will demanding receipts and flight itineraries right after we hand her our money.
We've been flying a lot to be fooled by this person. My friend the leader has been traveling a lot too. I don't know why she did not demand for proof of payment, probably she just trusted this person much to give her the freedom to all do it.
It saddened me actually because if we have been part of the trip we might have save some people's money. The thing is.. hubby and I been to Bangkok several times already and honestly this time is a tough time when it comes to financial thing with me and hubby.:))

The nerve of that lady! How can she do that, she practically robbed those poor, unsuspecting people of their hard-earned money. What could these scammers be thinking? How can they just throuw caution, good name and reputation out the window for easy money? It's really hard to trust people nowadays. Sometimes they even use other innocent people, even their faith to seve their own selfish purpose. I am glad though to hear that you're not one of her victims, but I still feel sorry for those who weren't as lucky. I hope they get their money back soon and I hope they don't let this incident pass just like that. Goodness knows if she has scammed other people the same way, or if she intends to do it again.

Oh yeah. I don't know if she's been doing this for so long that she's kind of good in dealing with it. She doesn't mind being in the hot seat though. Our friends told me that it seems that she's still in control.
She'd been collecting the money for three months, and all she said was good thing. So the truly trust her that much knowing she'd been in contact with them all this time. There are people actually that don't get ashamed of that bad things they've done to people and the worst thing about it... if you don't forgive them with they they tell you they're sorry... it's that you are the bad guy now. Agghh!.
Poor friend of mine actually, she now took all the blame since she's the leader of this group and the coordinator of this trip. Her phone kept on ringing and have been asked same question by different people over and over again.
My wish though is they'll be able to get their money back. How could someone does things like that. If she's really sincere of helping these group she must have said something if some problem about the booking really happens... not that everyone was all set and is waiting to be drop at the airport already.
The thought of this lady makes me mad. Wish things would get better soon.
