Over a year ago my daughter and grandson bought me a round 10 gallon aquarium that is really neat. The only thing is that the fish they gave me for the tank died within the first 24 hours. I have not had the chance to go out and buy new fish since then. Now I am planning on buying some maybe in November. The only problem is that the only place in town to buy fish is known for not really taking care of them and that is the reason that they die so quickly. Going out of town to find fish would be a problem as I don't have my own transportation. So when I go buy fish this time I am going to try to select some hardy fish that will hopefully live a long time. I'm also going to be looking for the aquarium animals that can help keep the tank clean.
Any suggestions anyone?

That is a big and beautiful aquarium, i think.
I think guppy fish is cute. They are beautiful, colorful and can live even in bad condition.
There is a type of cleaner fish, they are always sticking their mouth on the glass wall. They are very hardy, and they keep the aquarium clean. But the appearance is not that beautiful.
I have an aquarium with 13 goldfishes with different variety. There are some goldfishes variety that are hardy fish. You may want to get that variety for your aquarium. I forgot the name of the variety.

Thank you for your suggestions. The tank isn't really all that big but it has special lights that change colors which makes it really nice. The fish I had in it first that my daughter got me were called glow fish which I had never heard of before.
I'm not too fond of guppies because they are so very small it is hard to see them. I like bigger colorful fish.

Wow, that light is cool!
If you want bigger, colorful hardy fish, there are angelfish and archer fish. But maybe you can also do like what i do. I have goldfishes, in different colors and size. Some are classic orange-gold, some are albino(white), and there's a black ones.Goldfishes is good enough for beginner like us. Just remember to feed them, and change the water often.

Back when I had an aquarium (20+ yrs ago) I got a white catfish to help keep the tank clean. But he turned out to be neurotic and kept jumping out of the water (thankfully landing back in it and not on the floor). Not sure how much he cleaned the tank, but the neon tetras kept disappearing...
When you get your replacement fish, introduce them slowly to the tank water to avoid shock. Also, if your tap water is chlorinated, let it stand in an open container for a day to let the chlorine to dissipate.

I just read something the other day about fish jumping out of the fish bowl. But I have a tank that has a cover so the fish would not be able to jump out. I didn't know you could get any kind of catfish for the aquarium. That's an idea. I've heard about getting snails. I will also get at least one algae eater, I call sucker fish, to help with keeping the tank clean. Thanks for the tips about the water. I used to only get distilled water but will be using tap water this time. I think in the case with the fish my daughter got me, she transported them too many times in too short a time period in the car and probably shook them up too much.
