thank god slave trade has been arrested! yet, is it an ambiguous form of slave trafficking if people donate their organs like kidneys for monetary rewards? i feel for those who are sick and need to survive. but, asking for money for one to donate his kidneys could create another market that came from the past, e.g slave trafficking. i shudder.

It has been going on for many years.. Lots of people are very desperate for money and some are taking advantage of it. it was on the news and some documentaries. They interviewed people who donated their kidneys for 50 00 pesos(more than 1 000 dollars).. And now they are having a really hard time with their health.

i saw something on the internet, a survey report about organs and acceptability of rewards for donation, so i decided to throw it on mylot. i never knew it is even a commercial (black market) practice. it is really start the extent people go to make money, at the sacrifice of their health. so many persons in the developing world ignore health warning in order to be able to put something on their table. i have another discussion started also on that here on mylot.

Poverty is one of the contributing factors, why some people are forced to sell their organs. The government prohibits this practice but can not do much to lessen what these people are experiencing, so they resorted for the quickest way to have money. Without thinking of the consequences it might bring to them.

i agree with you, stanley777. the government is helpless before the black market, especially where there is so much money changing hands. poverty and ignorance are the root of so much ills, stanley777.

I read online that men can sell their "man parts" for like 30 thousand dollars. And a woman can sell her eggs for like 6 thousand I think. Not sure how I feel about the man one but the woman donating eggs doesn't seem so bad to me since they regenerate or whatever. People will do crazy things for money. I have been to the point of doing some stupid things for money when I was younger (not proud of that) but I can honestly say I haven't donated any body part especially important organs. That's crazy.
