at your age now, what childish thing would you like to do again

so i decided to start a discussion when i travelled heading to the city, as i saw children taking a bath under the rain. that scene let me reminisced of my past childhood thing like that. you know what, the children are so much enjoying with what they do. run there and everywhere, jumping, putting the head to the falling water behind the gutter, cupping it also, laughing and such activities as everyone taking a bath from the drizzles and pours of the rain-waters. i was also like that during my childhood age bracket. there would such thing happened that we used to swam to the flood water and stepped on something slimy. i do not know even as of today, if that was a fish or a snake . well, to say, one thing i would like to do again is to bath under the rain. so good and so fun with small friends like me. i guess, i can do it still but do not have time to do it or yet, no one will accompany me whahah what about you, what childish thing you like to do over again? share please, thanks

I'd like to climb trees then take a rest above the roof. Play in murky water catching tadpoles and small fish. Searching for spiders in the trees. Play hide and seek and tell ghost stories. Fly a kite. Dance naked in the rain. Complete nostalgia.

wow... when i was a child too, if was being motivated, i guess i am now a gymnast - lols... it is because, i really love to tumble down. i love climbing too to the trees. and mind you, love to catch tadpoles too. i remember at school during lunch breaks, that we used to climb to a mango tree and then fed the tadpoles with rice. and near us, there is a river and we used to catches fishes too and also shrimp. in there we will bring clothes to wash as an alibi. thanks ;)

Never got to try feeding the tadpoles. I remember accidentally murdering some spreading their guts out. I was curious with ones that have legs already. Oh and if I may add I forgot to mention catching dragonflies in the afternoon and fireflies at night. Sadly I was not allowed near the river then. But with trees I climbed them all!

we had a mango tree at the back of the house which helped us go up the roof. we also had tamarind tree at the corner that's so easy to climb. we climbed a guava tree at a relative's house few streets away but it was kinda scary because i felt the branches were thinner and slippery. we weren't allowed to play in the flood, (i think only once and the doctor happened to wade by and gave us a friendly warning) but some of my brothers would take a "shower" under the downspout from the roof.

Thank you so much for posting this discussion. Just reading the heading alone, it made me smile. I remember a lot of things I usually do when I was a child. As a matter of fact some of those things, I am still doing right now. Like these children you described on this discussion, I did the same thing when I was a kid and even when I was still in college, I and my friends would love to go out when it's raining so hard not minding the danger of falling debris all over. It was just so fun and even now that I am already working, I'm still doing it. It's just so fun. Being a child is so wonderful. No problems, no worries, life seems so easy. At some point in my life I was thinking of going back being a child again, if only possible. You did a good job in creating this one:)

i guess you had fun during your childhood years. and i am so much like you. but i do not play marbles or rubber bands. those things like climbing, taking a bath in the river or under the rain were my plays. my parents used to restrict me, obeyed at first then after that will find some time to do what i want. sometimes i get scolded as well.. thanks

I had so much fun. when I was a kid I don;'t mind being beaten or scolded by my parents as long as I can do waht i love to do. I didn't mind at all the scorching heat of the sun, the heavy rain, the thnders and lightning, the forest, the ghost stories.. all those stuffs.. I didn't mind as long as i can have fun. Seriously, I was a "boy" thing when I was a kid because all of my playmates were all boys..lol. Really fun!

I would love to run out there in a summer rainstorm with a pretty twirly dress and spin right under the raindrops. Another thing that I would love to do is do several cartwheels right through the store or across a plush covering of soft grass.

I never had so much fun during my childhood days. So, I live my life today being chidish. Seriously, my childhood days wasn't that fun since I don't have any siblings and we live far from our relatives. I never played outside our house, nor played with our kid neighbors. I just stayed at home and I can't remember doing something memorable. I started enjoying bathing in the rain when I was a teen. Appreciated stuffed toys when I was in college. But that was a good thing. Because, I still feel young even though I am not.

it is alright. at least you fulfilled the childhood fun during your growing years which is good because you will be able to protect yourself at your age. well, having childish things to do is quiet relieving and could ease the boredom of being old and so i am . kidding aside, there are really reasons behind for sure why a certain person cannot do a thing for now but doing it later in time. but even of my age too as of now, i am still childish inside because love it that way... thanks for joining girl :)

i wish kids in my neighborhood can still play street games without fear of being run over by a jeepney or tricycle. but now i notice that they are short tempered and would hurt each other and swear like adults. i also notice that they also like making bets which is something we never thought about. we played for fun, not competition or money. i'm glad we have a garage so i was able to teach many traditional pinoy games to my nieces. actually, some of them we could even play in the living room like luksong tinik. :) i've never been physically active, but i still love swings and slides. :)

Swing, slide, see-saw. Hopscotch. Playing tag. That game we play using our step-ins. Whew. Don't we all sometimes wish we could be children again?

hello thereandthere... so i can say that the youngsters of before were totally different as of today. as to add that they are more advanced in nature maybe because of the inventions like computers and sort of in this new generational children. but glad you helped restored the traditional game we played during our younger years. me, before i love to jump from much higher buildings then climbed into it again then jumped again. love swings and slides as well...

I would like to climb trees - I tried to show my son how to climb trees a few years ago - he said " Why do I need to learn how to climb a tree?"

Hi missjahn, I am 73 years old and I think that it's terrible that we pay so much attention to what others think. Why can't a group of 40, 50 or even 73 year olds go play in the rain if they want to do so. I have great fun playing with my grandchildren - I get on the floor and play all sorts of pretend games with them and I enjoy it too. The problem is most people say, what would the neighbours or others think. Does it really matter what they think. Take every opportunity to have fun and be a kid again. Blessings.

Playing real games--I miss this period of childhood. Kids play games online nowadays, far from my idea of games back in the day.

Sad to say but I think I wasn't able to enjoy much during my childhood. I feel I just became so matured at a young age that I wan't into playing outdoors that much. I was more likely to be seen playing as a teacher or librarian. (Geek, right?)Looking back, I would like to be playing "sipa" again with my friends. I am sure eventhough we are now in our 40's, they would also try playing it with me. hahaha! We belong to a group of crazy people, I guess. http://undermyfingertips.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/sipa.png

Well...your question seems so simple but I hardly can answer it. I mean, as a child, I've never had this shower in the rain thing because my parents would never allow me to. Besides, I didn't like to get wet in a complete dress. And this is what I don't like until today. So if I have to answer the question, I would prefer not to think about adult problems again. I would love to be a child forever. Maybe I should call Peter Pan for this.

I would like to play again in the rain for I had so much memories regarding playing under it. It molded me to become a better person, it's because, during those years and it was raining, I had help my parents to earn something to have something to eat, we had a simple life back then, I needed to sell stuff and earn something. I treated the selling thing as playing and fun, that's why I really enjoyed selling when it rains. Though sometimes I had those moments when I caught slight colds and fever, I still manage to get well, don't know why, maybe, i used to it, immune as it is. Now, I want to play again in the rain to help me realize more about life. Thanks

I would like to craw around, falling here and there and get myself mud. but this only happen if i can get back to child age. i do not dare to do like this now. when we are child, we will never think so much of others and just play around with. child will never have complicate thinking like adults so i wish to back to that time.compare to what would like to do again i wish to have a time machine to back to the past.

How about jumping in the little mud pools with just a pair of shorts and white tees? I did that a few days ago this rains and I really loved it. I have been ill, at home most of the days. So there is no professionalism or much of work for me. And the good part is that I can and do play the kid many a times. I love the rains no doubt but they dont go well with me due to health issues. But still I manage to have a bath in the rain with soap and shampoo at least once even today. I would love to fly kites and also scare someone in the mid of the night though I am sure if I did that last one, they may take me to the asylum... maybe some safer pranks

Things that I would probably regret later, from back when I was a kid and--since it was 'understandable' ("Hey! ... oh, you're just a kid; never mind.")--there would be no real 'strings' attached. And I could even dismiss any personal regrets with "Oh! I was just a kid back then ... never mind!" (Of course, I would still bear "responsibility" for any children born as a result )

hello myth... glad to see you here :) but still there were things that i regretted even i was just a kid. and that if given a chance, i would like to go back to being a child and erase all of those. but you know life must go on, so there is not used of turning back and regretting those things. anyway, as what you said, we were just kids right that time then. they cannot blame us because of immaturity of thinking whatever... glad you made it here :)

missjahn Interesting aspect of life -- we cannot go back one second backward. time lost is lost for ever., I cannot be a person I was yesterday. If given an option I would like to go to my school days -- playing tennikoit, cricket and having no worries at all. parents were only having worry about children. I was not in the habit of taking bath in rain and all that because I use go get cold when drenched in rain.

indeed... i wish time machines really exist and that taking ourselves back to the past would be so easy to do fun things again or to erase hurtful moments in life. but even ourselves knew the indications of it that is why God did not designed sort of thing like that. well, if rain had fall, i feel excited then because i would like to bath on the drizzles of it. thanks God :) sir rav thanks

This reminds me of my nephew who was about 2 or 3 years old then, he generously ate a plate of spaghetti in one of the fast food chains around. We were all staring at him while he finishes his food. After finishing the whole plate, no one bothered to clean him up and all the pasta sauce was all over his mouth and we were laughing at him because he was so cute. Everyone around the place was staring at him too and everybody was laughing as well. If in a childish world I could do that, I would really want to try.

i do not know if tried to messed like that like of your nephew. they are so cute seeing them like that. but if oldies would have to appear same so, a great disturbance from the people around as they will laugh at you right to your face. love that? it is because we are not kid anymore and we do not appeal lovable to them if we looked like kids in a mess after eating... hahha thanks for joining here :)
